    Hi All,

I have a Treo 650 (Sprint PCS) and I am using both a Motorola HS820 and a Parrot DriveBlue handsfree solution. I cannot figure out how to set up voice tags with either unit. I have read through all of the documentation and there is no reference to the Treo 650 in either manual. I have searched through the forums and that left me even more confused, some say they have voice tags set up, others say it's not possible at all on the 650.

In preferences, under 'Handsfree' settings, there is a voice tags setup button. When I click this button, it actually shows a DriveBlue unit and states the following:

"To record voice tags, initiate the recording from the handsfree device. If necessary, refer to the documentation that came with your handsfree device."

    Grumble.....

I'm having the same problems and questions.

From the fact there are no replys to your question, no one else apparently know the answer either.

Please, anybody who knows what and how Voice Tags works on a Treo 650, reply.

I don't know who we should raise hell with more, P1 for saying their update works with the DriveBlue or TC for selling the thing on the premise that it works as well as Marcus Adolfsson's (TreoCentral Editor) claim that it works.

P1 & TC: Anyone listening or anyome care?

The driveblue should work. The Motorola (and all other current known headsets) won't though, Palm doesn't support it.

Any clue on how to get the DriveBlue to work?

    How do I setup VoiceTags?

    1) Make sure the DriveBlue is paired and operational.

    2) VoiceTags only work with numbers assigned to your Speed Dial favorites, so first add the number and name to an empty favorite.

    3) Click on the home key, and select the prefs application. Under the communication heading, select Handsfree.

    4) Click on Voice Tags Setup.

    5) Press and hold the red Hangup button on the DriveBlue until the Record Voice Tag screen is displayed on your Treo. Select the favorite to create a voice matching recording for and click record. The DriveBlue will say "Say the name after the beep" (say the name) and then again "Repeat the name after the beep". When completed, press Done.

How do I dial using a VoiceTag?

Press the Green button on the DriveBlue once, and after the beep say the name of pre-recorded voicetag. If correctly recognized, the recorded name will be played back by the DriveBlue and the number will now be dialed automatically. If a mistmatch, the DriveBlue will say "Name not Recorded".

Important: If your Treo screen is off while performing a call using VoiceTags, do not hit the red power key on the Treo to turn the screen it (as it will then hangup the call). Rather, use Green button.

The Treo doesn't support voicetags natively, so VoiceTags needs to be supported in the Bluetooth hardware. Very few headsets (none that I know of) supports voicetags in the hardware.

When you say, "very few", which few are you referring to?

Do you think an update from P1 will allow voice tags from the headset to work?

It works! And, if you have Sprint's Voice Command, you can set it up as a favorite and it opens up a lot of voice dialing capabilities. Thanks for the info, Marcus.
