    My point is that you have hundreds of digital players players to choose from. If you happen to choose the iPod you then have your choice of platforms to use it on. Depending on which platform you choose, you then have a choice of iTunes to interface with it or one of the many (or in the case of Windows more than many) freeware, shareware and small-price tag apps. If you choose iTunes, you have the choice to use any existing formats with the exception of a few obscure proprietary formats(WHICH ARE OF A CLOSED SYSTEM), in addition, you can choose to rip your own stuff or even choose to purchase music from iTMS.

    NO WHERE ELSE DO YOU HAVE CHOICES LIKE THAT OF THE i POD, iTUNES, AND THE iTUNES MUSIC STORE. NO WHERE!
