When you combine a ringtone manager such as CallFilter with a Profile Manager like Simple Profile Manager, you can determine when you are "on the clock" versus when you can let your hair down a bit and play some more interesting tunes.

I can see Meyerweb's point about having mixed morality, but can also see the contra point that we do have work, church or other more serious and noble interests, but then some of us have a more "carefree" side where it is fun to have some catchy tune or outfit or even attitude that takes place after hours or on weekends.

I don't think there is anything wrong with having a diversified life and various sets of work acquaintences, friends, family or even DRINKING BUDDIES who may have different levels of tolerance for our personal tastes as expressed through ringtones, caller ID pictures or other personalization on our mobile device.

If your reaction time is quick enough, you should be able to switch the sound switch to OFF position or ignore the call so the offending tone stops playing. With some quick wit, you could pass it off as a passing car, a coworker's radio or something else that you aren't attached to!

Good luck with the job and if people make a judgement on you based on some weird ringtone, then that wasn't the right company to work for anyway!

    Take care,

    P

TechPrincesse..glad it worked out. That other job was too uptight anyway. I mean who can't groove to the Commodores. Question for the group. Anyone know of a program that can allow me to bring mp3's or wav's to my treo650. I would like to put some miles davis as a ringer but have no idea how to get it onto the machine

I use CardExportII for that. Works well for MP3's and other larger files. Makes the SD card mount like a thumb drive.

there is a link on the page to the nokia site, but the software they offer is free and will convert mp3 to amr, and you can assign them as ringtones with no additional software. The registration for the software is a pain, but worth it.

Your right... I think at first the initial shock factor made my reaction time a tad SLOW... lol I will remember this if there is a next time, God forbid.

Thanks ya'll! The new job is awesome!

The woman promptly said she would call back and hung up and that was about6 hours ago...

FYI I have phone technician installed for my MP3 ringers. I know alot of programs suppress alarms while you are on a call but are there any that suppress actual ringers??! I have only been using Technician for about a week and was ready to buy it, cause this never happened before, and I really dont want it to happen again. Which one is better that doesnt cost an arm and a leg?
Are you an ADULT looking for secure employment in the conservative business world,
    or,
a teenager trying to express yourself with pop music?

This ringer nonsense is just another scam to part working folk from their hard-earned bucks, and it's extremely annoying when someone's silly sounds invades our PRIVATE PERSONAL SPACE in a public place.

But during a job solicitation callback?????????????????

Hmmm. Or is it perhaps that you take yourself too seriously :-). I don't want to hear ANYONE's loud ringer whether it is a beep or Pachebel's Canon. The fact that someone can be a bit creative and add a sense of humor to something as inane as a cell phone is really not an issue. The issue the volume at which that expression occurs and where it occurs. Most workplaces it is in appropriate, many public places with walls and in close proximity to others it is inappropriate. At all times, outside of the quiet stillness of your domicile, loud is inappropriate. I am an orthopaedic surgeon and I have a very mellow (and low volume), John Coltrane that plays after a couple buzz's so I can turn it off if need be, and patients often remark "how nice". Now often the phone is on vibrate when I see patients but when it is not the ring is low and the mp3 quite melodious. Starkly different from the harsh midi or other loud tunes/tones. So ease up, lighten up, go after the loud inappropriate not those of us who like to hear what we would like to hear when the time/place and situation are appropriate!

Good grief, at first I was not going to entertain this post with a response but I decided to point out a few things. Firstly it was already stated that I was in my car and in my car the ringer is on, as many people have it. I dont think I know anyone that drives in pure silence to keep their phone on vibrate all the time. FYI, the woman DID call back, albeit, it was 2 days after I already accepted the offer for the other job which I am currently working. Lastly I have been employed in the IS/IT field for the past 9 years (and had a personal cell phone since 1996), in every job I have been on we hear phones going off all day, two-way chirps, etc... I agree with the previous poster that claims if she cant understand it was a glitch then that wasnt the job for me anyway. Many of the IS/IT jobs I have held including the job I am at now we are in and out, and we have had company-supplied pagers and nextel phones and someone's phone/pager is always going off so its hardly a quiet environment. I turn my phone OFF when it counts, in church, and in a job interview and that's pretty much the ONLY time it is off. All other times are fair game when I need to be contacted (and I have a son in school so yes I do NEED to be contacted). The ringer is really no biggie. My issue was the program was not working as I wanted it to and I will not be purchasing it because of that glitch. Once again, NO BIGGIE! It really isnt that serious to be going off about it in such a way. I just thought it was embarassing! And even now after the fact I laugh about it. Either way, I'm glad you got whatever it was off your chest!

For the record I no longer have "Brick House" as a ringer... It is now the theme to "Fraggle Rock..." Who says you have to be a teenager to express yourself!

I think it is a funny story, I want Brick House as my ringer. And I would rather have Brick House playing next to me on the street than what I experienced in a play with a 60+ nitwit who had his "traditional" ringtone go off twice during the performance and each time it rang about 5 times while he fumbled to find his phone.

Hey there, can anyone help me find a particular ringtone? Well, this chick was telling me about how cool this dude's ringtone was and I have to have it but cant find it. She said it was like the intro to a 70's porno..ya know 'bow chick a wow wow' kinda thing...

There's no way the ****** bag had a treo so I'm sure that I can get the same ringtone, right? I've looked around a bit but am reluctant to give up searching and just rip something myself and use lightwave or another app. Any suggestions would be much appreciated.

The moral of the story is not to trust technology !!! You cannot say "I thought it was supposed to..." What a lot of crap that is. You have to try out these alternatives. You have fallen foul of the FU generation who doesn't care about you and just wants your money! BTW - mtypically American in its view of the world ;-)

Now that this thread's been hijacked and no longer about a treo utility, Mods please move to off topic so people can debate all they want about ringers. Thanks.
