Finally got all the pieces together for my Delorme Earthmate GPS unit, special cable and 2004 Handheld maps s/w.

    Application loads on desktop ok
    Application loads on 600 ok
    Maps transfer to 600 ok
Earthmate fires up and after a few min. of red led, changes to green (indicating I think that it is receiving sat. info.)
Handheld NEVER sees the Earthmate GPS
Settings for port are as per instructions: "Hotsync (RS-232)
Default location is set to correct lat/long
Daylight Savings Time is set to OFF
State is set to correct state
Device is set to correct device: Delorme Earthmate

Neither "Monitor" nor "Skyview" give any screen data input
    Also "Channel view" is blank

Any one have any idea what is going on?? Doesn't seem to be connecting the GPS to the 600, but when I click on "menu"/GPS/connect" the 600 resets as though I was pushing the "NETWORK CONNECT" button on the top of the unit.

    Any one????

    Frank

i think i am one of the original "how do i make my earthmate work with a 600" posters. i was never able to get it to work. at the time i asked (a year or more ago?), there were no commercial cable sellers. and the cable was one of the key missing factors. the other may be a lack of serial driver support? it was never clear. but i know of no one who has successfully hooked up their earthmate to a 600. what is your "special cable"?

The earthmate works fine with my 600.

I'm using the delorme map software, and under GPS settings it's set to:

    Device: Delorme Earthmate

    Port: Hotsync (RS-232)

    State: Last location...

i looked at them when i first tried to get it to work. they sold cables for
some of the older treos but did not sell one for the 600. can you be more
specific about which cable and which software you used?

I, too, was involved in some discussion about this early last year, I believe. The cable I purchased from thesupplynet.com did not at the time work.

Now, on their website, they are offering the same cable as the one I purchased over a year ago and are stating that it is compatible. I called a representative who was able to look up my order number and said that the cable I bought back then should be working.

She did direct me to go to this site for assistance. I'll give it the old college try and see what happens.

I'll let you guys know the results as soon as I find out something or other.

    Update:

I have received no further information from theSupplyNet and my call to Tech support has still gone unanswered. Are they selling a bogus product?

that's what i was afraid of. guess i'll just have to wait for sprint
to finally turn on (sell) their GPS service. i've waited for the NY
jets to return to the superbowl for 37 years. i guess i can
wait a while longer for sprint :-).
