I have a theory about Mac/Treo users. So, to help me test out my theory, would everyone respond with...

Of course, BMW/Mini and Treo go together; BMW and Treo both go after the middle-class+ yuppie segment. What else would you want to drive? Porsche? Not practical. Mercedes? Not fun/sporty. American? Bad reliability. Japanese? Not fun.

I don't know why more ppl don't plunk down their $25k for a BMW 325i, and instead go for something much more boring.

    Thanks,
    Peter

You got it. I have 3 friends/coworkers who quite independently wound up with Macs, Treo 600/650s, and BMW-branded cars.

I am the one standout in our group who traded his BMW in for a MINI. (The local BMW/MINI dealership switched to MINIs for their loaner cars when your BMW was in for service. They had about 50 people, myself included, who liked these little cars so much that we traded our BMWs in for MINIs.)

When the dark clouds gather on the horizon, when thunder and lightning fills the sky, When fate is but a glint in the eye of a fallen Rattler, And hopes are lost friends, When the sinew of the chest grows weary from those hard-charging linebackers, And the muscles in the legs grow tired from those hard-charging running backs ... You must remember that the Rattlers will... Strike, Strike, and Strike again.

Japanese cars not fun? I think my Honda S2000 is one of the most fun cars on the market. Still the highest specific output naturally aspirated production car in the world (120 bHP/liter), with a 9,000 RPM redline.

    - Treo 650
    - PowerMac G5 (dual 2.0 GHz), 12" PowerBook (1.33 GHz G4)

BMWs are great cars, especially the upcoming M5. I just wish they'd shake the Bangle look.

The S2000 is a very fun car. One of my neighbors has one. He already has a Mac....I'm trying to sell him on Treo.

Perhaps I need to revise my hypothesis from BMW to "fun car".

I think the common link is superior design and function

All products that go beyond just getting the job done and have that certain "Wow" factor.

Another similar item on my list is my TiVo, running off DirecTV and hacked for added recording capacity. I need to do some more work on it to get it to wirelessly communicate with my Mac.
