    2005 Prius

Frankly I'm surprised there aren't more replies from Prius owners.

Perhaps one of these days, when the Treo has really advanced Bluetooth Services, it can transmit the incoming caller's photo to the Prius's in-dash video screen (or even do videophone) or update the Prius's Navigation Computer with real-time traffic reports and road conditions.

How do you find the Prius - both as a car and fuel economy (am considering getting one)?

    Thanks

The Prius is a pretty roomy car for its size and has a lot of technological features too many to mention (get the package with bluetooth, navigation system, and smart key system). This hatchback with the rear seats folded down can also fit my bike, furniture, or snowboard. The 2006 models are coming out in October. You also get a lot of government favoritism depending on where you live, like free parking in some cities like Los Angeles, free use of the commute lane with one occupant (in California), and supposedly even a $3000 federal tax CREDIT for Prii purchased in early 2006. The fuel economy is 55 mpg average, but I'm getting 45-50 mpg in actual use; the mileage improves as you break in the new car. In other words, I only fill up after I travel ~500 miles.

New to apple and very happy thanks.

    iBook
    Treo 650
    Mercedes E300 turbo diesel
    Chevy Avalanche
And a 2001 Italian sports car that I won't even bother mentioning, except for the fact that bluetooth headsets are worthless over 5K rpms.

eMac 800MHz (soon to be replaced - with a faster Mac, of course)
    Treo 650
2000 VW Jetta TDI (for work, 45-50MPG, no batteries to worry about in the future )
    1994 Jeep Cherokee (for fun)

You haven't lived until you've pulled up to a truck stop, parked your Jetta (with Apple sticker in the window...) next to a semi and filled 'er up from the big truck fuel nozzle.

The 2005 VW Jetta TDI gets only 35 mpg city/42 mpg highway. That's a step in the wrong direction -- what happened?

First, you need to get the manual transmission - the auto sucks MPG, power and fun.

Second, 35MPG is probably low... my 2000 was supposed to get 44 on the highway, but my average is 45 (with 105,000 miles, BTW).

Third... I'd think it likely the 05 would be a bit lower - it has the new PD TDI engine with a bit more power.
