    I noticed, while searching for channels on avantgo, that while they list a lot of them, there are some that 'don't exist on their site. A very good example is the VisorCentral channel. Are there other good 'unlisted' channels out there that anybody can recommend?

    oh ya, i know about making your own AvantGo channels...it's neat, but not always the best thing to do with some websites....i'm asking about 'official' unlisted avantgo channels...again, like VisorCentral.

    Two Questions...

    1. Where can I find the VISORCENTRAL channel?

    2. What is the exact procedure for making
    your own channel? I want to download my BBS forum (looks like this one) to my VISOR. I did bookmark the AVANTGO "Make your own Channel" -- but have no idea how to use it.

    Thanks!

    In the lower right corner of the main VisorCentral homepage ( www.visorcentral.com ) is an AvantGo button. Click it and VC will be added the next time you sync. I believe, however, the this discussion board is NOT included in the default channel.

    The auto-channel component is located at the AvantGo site: http://avantgo.com/mydevice/autochannel.html . A very nice feature, by the way.

    As for the "unofficial" list, I'd be interested in seeing that too.

    I actually used Avantgo to download this bulletin board to my visor. The easiest way to do it is to use the wizard feature for creating your own channel. Unfortunately it is not too pretty or as easy to read as my downloaded NY Times channel, but it does work. Visorcentral will just have to redisegn their web pages to make them more Avantgo friendly. You got nothing better to do right guys. Hmmm I wonder if I can set up visor to work using the reply feature. Now that would be cool read the bulletin board and reply to it all on my visor, may never have to touch my home computer again.

    PDABuzz.com has just added some 'interesting' posts to their AvantGo channel....it's ok but i think it leans to far to palmpilots for my interests.

    Alas, when I click that button, my browser displayes the following:
    Code:
    (
        {
            chewLevels = 2;
            followOffsiteLinks = false;
            includesImages = true;
            maxClusterSize = 100000;
            refreshDayFlags = 127;
            refreshInterval = 1;
            refreshPeriod = 1;
            refreshTime = 0;
            rootUrlString = "http://www.visorcentral.com/avantgo/avantgo.php3";
            title = "VisorCentral.com";
            weekdaysOnly = false;
        }
    )
    but otherwise nothing happens. At next hotsynch, VisorCentral is not in my list of channels, nor is it in the forms manager.
    I'm using Netscape 4.7

    Hmm, not sure why it's doing that Winchell...Baltimore eh? I work in Baltimore, live in Crofton.

    Would it involve a setting on your browser and how it handles certain scripts? i'm not a network guru but that's all i can think of.

    Winchell,
    I have seen that happen to me a few times in NS. If you have IE, try clicking on the link from there. You can also create a custom channel to http://www.visorcentral.com/avantgo/avantgo.php3 .

    Winchell,

    With Netscape 4.7, a sure-fire solution is to right-click on the channel button, then select Save Link As. "VisorCentral.sub" will be saved to your hard drive. Double-click on this ".sub" file to subscribe.
