I'm fairly new to the Palm scene, but anybody with an ounce of marketing sense ought to be able to look at the visitor numbers for the various sticky threads on this board and figure out what they should be working on and delivering to customers. In case that's too hard for some folks, here's a quick recap. The Treo 650 has been on the street for almost a month. As of today, there have been over 130,000 views of the thread discussing Wi-Fi for the Treo 650. And almost 50,000 have looked at the thread discussing Bluetooth Dial-Up Networking. Compare these numbers to the 3,000 folks that are interested in a free 128MB memory card, and you should start to get the picture. Come on, Palm AND Sprint. You've got a winner on your hands. Don't blow it!

Perhaps a valid analysis - except you can't go by "reads" - it's surely a hot topic, but in actuality, the # of UNIQUE people reading both threads could be identical...

there is huge wifi demand. full stop.

and nice competition models come out - MPx, XDA II Mini, sooner or later the SE Pxxxx.

the Pxxxx will have wifi built-in, with the XDA II Mini a card works.

if P1 waits with a wifi upgrade until the next model rolls out, then finally good night P1.

look at the share value. thats not the end.

The ultimate problem is that WE, for the most part are not P1's customers, it is the carriers that buy the units and, in the case of Sprint, effectivly bankrolled the 650s development. So they are the ones that are the deciding factor on what is or is not on the phone. Pressure needs to be put on Sprint and the like, not just P1

The Sony Ericsson P1000 may have the best quality hardware of all smartphones, but it's still going to run Symbian. So until Sony Ericsson starts making PalmOS smartphones (please, Sony, PLEASE!), or Samsung finally gets off their lazy a$$es and releases one of their VaporPhones™, the Treos are all we have. For me, having PalmOS is a lot more important than having the best hardware, but I resent having to choose between the two.

Maybe the Treo 700 will be the bugfix release we've been asking for for the past 12 months.

Yes, but just by reads you can tell interest level. 1 read of topic one compared to 100 reads of topic 2.

    Its not rocket science.

Not trying to argue the point really, but again - you can't make that assumption. There's very little to discuss about the free card. People see the link once, fill out their form and they have a card on the way.

DUN has far more to discuss - and as more posts appear, the same readers are going back over and over.

As a moderator for a website/message board that gets over 40 visitors and posters a day, scientifically you could only argue this point if the reads were tracked "uniquely".

The original poster was making a comment on # of reads as if it meant # of people interested. That's all...

What people on this board want is not indicative of what the general Treo-buying public wants. I'm sure they'll use that as an excuse to give us nothing that we asked for.
