Yes it happened both time whilst I was on a call, in the first case yes I'm sure it crashed right after receiving the voicemail notification , in the second case I didn't see the screen when it crashed so I don't know if it was a voicemail notification but as it was the same call and it happened about 1 minute apart (enough time for the Treo to restart and to redial the call) I think it may have been the voicemail notification being resent after my phone restarted.

    Hi all,

    Just posted a new version - 6.50 (b030) - at www.shsh.com/beta

    - Treo: Fixed reset when voicemail received with the “Show & Handle” option selected.

    - Treo: “Return after call” – only if there are no more calls.

    - Treo 650: Fix for new PIM address fields labels (Treo 650).

    - Treo 600: Allow voicemail entry to be anywhere in favorites (identified by the ‘E’ shortcut).

    Thanks !

    Great !

"return after call" - say you have two active calls (either in conference, or one on hold), and one of them is dropped - now the device will not return to TAKEphONE, allowing you to continue controlling the existing call.

    PIM labels - Addr (W), Addr (H), Addr (O)

    Thanks!

Does this feature allow you to control who you hang up on while handling two callers(longtime SprintTreo issue) or am I confusing this for something else?

If TP solves this problem, count my $20 in.

The option would be in TakePhone. An option under PalmOne Treo would be something like "[ ] Only use first 10 speed dials per page" or something like that.

So in TakePhone on speed dial page 1, you would use the first five rows from PalmOne dialer page 1. Then on TakePhone page 2 you would use the first five rows of PalmOne dialer page 2 (skipping 4 entries technically -- the 6th and 7th row on PalmOne page 1).

Then I can keep them both in sync. Right now you just can't organize them neatly for both.

    Hi,

    I see what you mean.
But - this may seem strange to some users.
I prefer to add an option to show 14 entries in TAKEphONE.
(problem - this will not be now - later version)

    Hi,

It works only for device that do detect the busy signal, and report it to my app - if your device shows the "Line was busy - redial" dialog, then it should work. If it stays in the current call screen and does not take any action - I can not handle that...

Is there any way to add a descriptor to the phone numbers that doesn't mess up the caller id and doesn't prompt dialing of extra digits? Probably not, but it's odd that there isn't. Am I the only one with this type of problem? Can the awesome TAKEphONE solve this problem?

How about using the additional custom fields (you can rename those) ?
TAKEphONE will allow you to reffer to those as phone number fields (i.e. dial them). I know it's not a perfect solution, but...

Interesting idea, and it would work if I always used the same descriptors - but usually it's something like "(M) Jamie: 555-1212" and "(M) Nathan: 555-1213" or something unique to each contact like that.

Here's an idea - maybe a great idea, maybe a terrible one... Back in the DateBk5 days (and I suppose this is still true), links were made from calendar events to contacts by burring a DateBk code into the end of the "Notes" section on the record.

I wonder if you could burry some coding somewhere in the contact info that you could use to display in the label to the left of the phone number...

That would be really helpful. I wonder if others would like the ability to create custom labels...

    Hi,

If you mean to display this descriptor in the caller-id dialog, then I cant help here - it's the built-in dialer that shows this...

I would really love this feature.

Shimon, I wouldn't need to see the descriptor in the caller-id dialog, I'd just want the caller-id to match to the correct contacts entry (person).

For me, I have a bunch of entries like this

    TYPE : VALUE
    -----------------------
    Mobile : (888) 555-1212 <wife>
    Other : (999) 555-1212 <callout>

The strings in the <> brackets seems to get properly ignored when dialing. But it won't match for caller-id. On my old Koyocera 6035, they would match. The <wife> entry above would just be a way for me to add another number to a contact, but label it so I know what to do with it (don't call that number when planning a drinking event). The <callout> was a way for me to enter the company callout number for a person so that caller-id would match the right person. Even though that wasn't the number I'd use to "call in" to that person.

Now with the expanded custom fields on the 650, I could handle all of my labeling needs, but that doesn't help with caller-id. I guess what I really want is the ability to have the 650's built in phone app use custom fields for caller-id. But that doesn't seem likely to happen.

If Takephone could support some sort of visual tagging that would do it. I agree that some use of the Notes field (like what db5 does) would probably be a clean way to do it. Maybe only do this for entries of type "Other" and then instead of displaying the string "Other" on the left, you would display the new comment. If the builtin phone app showed these, the NOTES field would contain these cryptic entries and the phone numbers would just be type "Other". But when TakePHone showed these, the NOTES field would not show the new data but you'ld see the info where it used to say "Other".

Phew... long winded message. I'll shut up now.

    Hi,

Not following you - if you add these <wife> tags within the phone field - TAKEphONE will show them...

carrel - I'm glad I'm not the only one who has trouble with this. I didn't think I was that odd...

Shimon - yes, TAKEphONE will show the text identifier, which is better than what the 650 does - if there's text in the number it completley blanks out the number and prevents you from dialing it. TAKEphONE shows the number and allows it to be dialed. That's great. Here's the remaining problem: when a call comes in from that phone number - the 650 caller id doesn't match it to the contact because the caller id = 555-555-5555, not "555-555-5555 Bob". The 600 somehow worked - it must have ignored the text. The 650 doesn't.

So, we could hope for Palm to fix this (sometimes updates are not progress...) or something like TAKEphONE could fix the problem.

The idea I had (and I think is echoed by carrel) is this: From within TAKEphONE, once you find a contact and choose it, you're taken to the contact's list of numbers. First column has the header "tap to edit". Second column has the header "tab to dial". Why not create a custom tag option that would show up in the first column - the "tap to edit" column. If a custom tag has been created, use it, otherwise just use the defaul Palm tag (ie Mobile). This column is your own column and it could be modified without really changing the actual contact record - except you have to put the tag somewhere so it can be pulled to this screen - that's where I was suggesting you use the last few lines of the notes section for the contact like DateBk5....

    Does this make any sense?

See the attached mockup - it's rough but it might help.

Of course, I do see a problem. A long tag would push the phone number. So I guess a tag would have a limited size or would wrap...

    Hi,

I see what you mean, and it's a cool idea, BUT -
dont see how this will solve the caller-id issue - since the built-in app is handling it...

Here's why - the "Tag" would be saved by TAKEphONE in the notes field of the contact record. The actual phone number field would be clean - it would just contain the phone number. If viewed in the Palm native contacts program, the tag wouldn't show up at all. BUT when viewed in TAKEphONE, it would because TAKEphONE is displaying the actual phone number in the second column but in the first column, it's looking in it's custom lines on the notes field to see if this entry has a custom tag - if it does, it displays that in the first column. If it doesn't, then it just pulls the standard field tag from the database.

So you will only be able to see it when in TAKEphONE,
NOT during a call in the current calls screen...
