Shimon - I installed this latest version of TP OTA a couple days ago on my Sprint 700p. The app seemed stable for several days until I hotsynched recently. Everytime I hit the phone button (mapped to TP), my Treo resets with the following error code: "A reset was caused on <date and time> while running "TakePhone": StringMgr.c, Line:367, string too long (>64k)

Any ideas on a fix for this?

    - Treo: added “Check Voicemail” (shortcut-V) menu option.

    - Treo: fix for sending SMS by pressing SPACE in speed-dial (favourites).

    - General: added option to have the “Beam” button in “Details” screen function as a “Send contact” instead of “Beam contact”.

    - Capture: fixed name lookup using the PHONE button (and OutCall).

Treo 700p users: does your Preferences pages for buttons allow you select an app to be launched when the phone button is pressed? I thought I had TakePhone selected as the default app on my Preferences>Buttons page for the Phone button but realized now the Preferences>Buttons page does not allow me to assign another app to the Phone button. Must be thinking of my old Treo 600 which does allow this. LudasP to the rescue I suppose.

    Hi,

What version of TAKEphONE is this ?

I would try deleting TAKEphONE, then re-installing the latest version from www.shsh.com/takephone

If it's a big contact (lots of entries in the notes field, for example), over 160 characters - like the one above, it gets broken up into several messages. Even after joining up the different pieces, I can't seem to get it to act like a vcf file. If I copy it to Notepad on the desktop, and then save it as a vcf file, neither Outlook nor Palm like it. I'm using an unlocked GSM Treo 650.

I believe I had the latest version 6.50 b126. I am running through the delete and reinstall recommendations even though I'm installing the same version. Setup my preferences as I had them and so far so good. Will continue testing. Considering I've installed the same version that was throwing the errors, does the error code I included above make sense to you?

    Hi,

This utility does indeed send the SMS as the message text - it will not appear as a VCF, but - when you do send the SMS, the receiving party should be able to interpret it as a VCF.

By "the receiving party should be able to interpret it as a VCF", you mean that since the different pieces of address information are listed in the text message, the receiver can copy those fields into a contact that he creates manually himself, right? You're not saying that there's a method for importing the text directly as a vcf file...right?

If that's the case, why use the vcf format at all?

What I mean is when I send this SMS message to a Nokia cellular (my wife's) it deos not receive it as a plain SMS, but as a VCF (it tells her that a business card has arrived, and asks if she wants to accept it into her address-book).

    Hi Shimon,

I sent you an email last week and a second on today after you sent me the serial number about this problem I need help with.

I have tried setting up a "calling card" rule but am having trouble getting it to work. Can you tell me perhaps what I may be doing wrong?

I have set this up in the Options menu under Telephony preferences.

    1. I clicked on configure on the "Use calling-card/s" option
    2. I then keyed in a name for it in first field
    3. I then keyed in the long distance provider number (local number) in the script field, and "tx" after it with a space in between the number and the text
    4. For rules, I simply create only 1 rule and have the number "1" in the first rule. To my understanding this simply means that for any contact in my phone, whose number starts with a 1, it would first dial my long distance provider number, pause a bit and then dial out the contact number.

I must be doing something wrong, because when I added a 1 to one of my long distance contacts to test it out, it dials the long distance provider number no problem, but then when the button comes up on the screen to dial the extra digits, I press that button, but then it doesn't actually dial the numbers and all that happens is that I continue to hear my long distance provider automated message.

Please help me figure this out asap.

    Hi,

Sorry for the delay in answering - I see your emails to me from today and from the 22nd.

As I replied via email - you need to add an 'N' to the scipt line (a placeholder for the original number).

    Thanks.

    Hi Shimon.

I'm a Treo newbie on a 700p and I'm about to register TP. Thanks for creating it!

    4 questions:

    1. Is it possible to have ones' default TP screen be Speed Dial instead of the dial pad/find screen? 85% of my phone use is to my speed dials and it'd save me many taps.

    2. (This may not be a TP question...) Does call waiting work on a 700p? Meaning like on a regular cell phone or home phone where you can switch back and forth between call 1 and call 2? I can't seem to make it work, always disconnecting 1 call or both.

    3. I'm in 1st week of build 124 trial. What's the best way for you (and for me) to get my reg. code w/out redownloading the sw?

    4. I use 1 calling card only, only for intn'l calls. I'd like to be able to access it, having TP enter my PIN and then either look up the number and dial manually or preselect the intn'l number and cause it to be appended to TP's access of the calling card switch. Any advice?

Many thanks and develop on, dude!!

    Be well, all.

    David

    >>> Purchase a license (prefferably at www.shsh.com/takephone). I will send

    Shimon,

In the last two days I have been experiencing a very weird issue with TakePhone.

It has worked flawlessly in the last couple of weeks (since I installed it), however yesterday when I tried to dial a number, TakePhone would just freeze and become non-responsive. After a minute or so, a window would pop up saying that the phone is not responding. I then have to reset the phone as the phone seems to have turned off.

I can dial without any issues using the Treo's phone application. However I can now no longer use TakePhone.

Any suggestions on what I can do to remedy this? Anyone else run into this problem.

What version are you running? And have you loaded any other programs?

EDIT: One more question: might you accidentally have changed your telephony setting? (upper right corner of the screen, should say "mobile")

hoovs may be on it - please check that the "location" is set to "mobile"
(upper right corner), and that in TAKEphONE "Telephony" preferences page, the "Dial using" option is set to "Treo"
