    Hi Shimon,

I hadn't checked for the latest build of TakePhone 6.50 in a while and now realized it's out of beta. I know I can just update what I have (build 54) and get all the goodies, but I would like to know what changes were done in the latest builds. That was easy with the change log you kept in the beta page.

I looked in the shsh.com page and could not find that list of changes. Is it available anywhere? (read: How can I get that list?)

    Thanks.

Hi Shimon, any update with this issue (which is actually somewhat important) and also the "roaming" signal not showing in takephone (somewhat less important)?

I'm noticing what I think is an issue with looking up phone numbers (for instance searching for certain numbers in the format of 222-222-2222) from within Takephone (I'm using Takephone almost like a "reverse look-up for numbers). As far as I can tell, the "match: within words" doesn't seem to be working correctly. Now Takephone will find the same number if I have "Match: words" selected, but that limits me in other ways.

As I look at this further, it actually seems to have something to do with the way Takephone interprets the "-" symbol. When using the "match: within words" it will not find a number that uses the "-" sign. However, when I use "Match: words" it will skip over the "-" sign so that the actual numbers will show up.

Takephone appears to only have trouble with certain numbers, so If you like, I can e-mail you a specific number and my takephone setup?

Just to try to make this complicated subject a bit more clear:

When "Match within words" is selected If I search (in Takephones "find" screen) using the terms "2223" it will not find the number "222-345-9922"

When "Match Words" is selected, If I search using the terms "2223" it will find the number "222-345-9922"

    Hi,

    Looked into it.
I think I know how to fix this, but afraid it might cause some other unpredictable results in searching.
Give me some more time to check it out.

ok, here's a long standing TAKEphONE bug. This has been around forever, but I never got up the energy to mention it since it's small. Really small! It was there on my Treo650 and now on my 700p.

When I press and hold the '1' key on the touchscreen (not the keypad) a popup appears that says "Keep pressing for Contacts" and if I keep pressing, it calls my voicemail. In my Speed Dial list, the first entry is "Contacts". My second entry is "Voicemail" and has the hotkey 'E' associated with it. On the Treo keypad, 1 and E are the same key. So it's totally intuitive to me that '1' on the keypad and '1' on the touchscreen should do the same thing. So in the end, I think TAKEphONE is doing the right thing. But the popup indicates that it's going to do something else. Yes, this is really a nit, but the popup should be fixed. (Or frankly, you could just remove it and that would be fine with me. It is a bit odd that speed dial from the keypad is faster than speed dial from the touch screen because the touchscreen incurs the extra popup delay.)

First: What does "came up to" mean? Do you mean the popup came up, or that it started the contacts application??

Second: what are your speed dial entries like? What is in Position 1? Is there a hotkey set for "Contacts"?

Also, do you have TAKEphONE configured to use the built-in speed dial data??

From what you typed, if you continued to hold the '1' down it would go to voice mail and that does not happen. On my devices it comes up to the contacts drop-down menu and when I press find it goes and finds the matches to it. If I hit save it then saves the contact - I fail to understand what you mean. The bottom line is that it does not dial voice mail.

Well you have very different behavior than I do. I am assuming that is because we have configured TAKEphONE options differently. My questions above were attempting to determine which config was different. I indicated in my first post that I have hotkey 'E' set for the "Voicemail" speed dial. I have no hotkey for the "Contacts" speed dial. And I have TAKEphONE configured to use the built-in speed dial.

Nonetheless, the way I have it configured, I get the behavior that I want (to get voicemail) but TAKEphONE gives me a popup saying that it is going to do something different.

    Hi all,

    Just posted a new beta version - 6.50 (126) - at www.shsh.com/beta

    - VOYP: added support for making calls using the VOYP (VoIP application) from ToySoft (http://www.palmvoip.ca).

    - Treo: added “Check Voicemail” (shortcut-V) menu option.

    - Treo: fix for sending SMS by pressing SPACE in speed-dial (favourites).

    - General: added option to have the “Beam” button in “Details” screen function as a “Send contact” instead of “Beam contact”.

    - General: added support for sending contacts via SMS, using the “send_with_sms” free utility.

    - Capture: fixed name lookup using the PHONE button (and OutCall).

    Thanks !

How is this supposed to work, Shimon? Is there something I need to set beforehand?

    Hi,

    Install the "send_with_sms.prc".

Then - from TAKEphONE - whenever you select "Send contact" - you should see the option to send via "SMS"

Can't you just hold down the 1 key in TAKEphONE to dial vmail?

Yes but this shortcut also allows you to turn off a stuck VM indicator.

It is there. select an entry on the speed dial, highlight a phone number entry and then press the option key - it'll show up number 4 from the top. Ben
