    Hi,

    1. I am sorry, but due to the long long long list of items to do with TAKEphONE, 2day, and other projects, and the short time - I decised not to spend too much time on making TAKEphONE preferences 5-way compatible.
Reasoning - once you have your settings ok, you will seldome use it...
I preffer spend the time on adding features (or fixing bugs...)

    2. T should be 2 seconds delay.

    3. The User-manual is not updated to the new version. I think you can safely use T now, and you do not have to use X.

So I am a bit confused. I have a contact named "Eric Ainsword". When I type in an "A" he is the first person in the list. But as soon as I type in an "I" then he is no longer in the list. He is also not in the list when I then type in an "N" and an "S" (So I have now typed in "AINS".) It does find contacts with "INS" in a word, like my INSurance company. But then if I type in a
"W" there are no matches to "INSW" so it then matches to "AINSW" and does find the contact. Why is that?? I understand the first initial + last name search, but shouldn't it still match to the last name??

With that said, as a feature request, I would love to be able to prioritize the different fields that are seached with respect to what gets displayed in what order. For example, I have a custom field for "Kids" where I put contacts kids names. I have included custom fields in the find search. But if I type in "soph" it lists one contact with a kid named sophie before a contact whose first name is sophie. I would like to be able to configure it to prioritize the display of first name matches before custom field matches. I guess the general solution would be to allow me to select the display order for each field that I have selected on the Prefs->find page.

I'm also noticing a bit of quirkiness with TakePhone (in a way that wasn't present in the prior versions). It seems to show you names of matching contacts as you input letters with the keyboard, but it doesn't always work intuitavely. For instance, I have a contact named "sara." Now if I type in "s-a-r" it doesn't show "sara" but it shows "sardar." If I type in "s-a-r-a" it will show "sara." I have takephone set to search for matching "words." Now I realize that if I'm searching for matching words it might not show "sara" until I've typed in that word, but then why would it show "sardar" if I've only typed in "s-a-r"?

absolutely, these are my settings in the "find" screen (if I don't explicitly mention a setting it means I do not have it selected):

    Match: "words"
    In: "Last" "first" "company" "Custom"

    "Remember last category" is selected.

"if single match-open details" is selected

Those are all of my selected settings in the "find" screen.

Can you tell me - when you type "sar" - how many matches do you have ?
And same when you type "sara" ?

And - for those two contacts - what are the exact fields for first, last & company ?

Nice work Shimon, this seems to have fixed the problem that I mentioned a few posts above.

On another note, I see that you filtered out any (Treo 650) "side key" presses from affecting the "find" section on Takephone (this works well). Is there any chance that you could do the same thing when one is on the TakePhone "speed dial" screen? Some of us use the side key for turning the backlight off and on, and a double click of the sidekey seems to input a character when on the speed dial page. Thanks!

Great, this has fixed the searching so it all make sense now. Thanks.

    2 Questions:

    1) is there a way to disable the "Treo Search" or at least limit it. I have set Match=Words and it seems to match the first letter in any word of any field that I search and then the remaining letters in any word of any field. This just produces too many matches. If it were limited to first and last names only, then it could be cool, but as it is, it just makes for too many matches.

    2) after all the matches are identified, they seem to be sorted into some sort of alphabetical order. Can you make that order be somewhat configurable? For example I would like to have it display last name matches before company matches and both before Notes matches. Of course that's just how I want it. Others might want a different order or maybe none at all, so I think it should be configurable.

    Thanks

    Dave

    1. Good point. I will limit it to the way the built-in search works.

    2. I see what you mean, but afraid this will have to wait - it's too much work, and I have too less a time...
