    Hi,

Regarding DTMF - what I consider doing is:

    1. Add another "category" in the "Volume setting" for "Screen digit buttons", so that you can control them seperately from the keyboard ones.

    2. Maybe change the way its done with the keyboard, to match the actual display - no matter what key you press - if the screen shows a search string - it will blip, if it shows a number (no matches) - it plays the dtmf.
Does this make more sense ?

This would be good. But I think it would also be good to have an option allow the system to control the volume irrespective of the tone.

Yes, but only with the hard keys, right? The screen buttons would always play DTMF?

Another idea, if possible, would be to say if the search string starts with a non-numeric hard button then play blips for the whole string. If it starts with a numeric hard button then play DTMF until a non-numeric hard button is pressed then revert everything to blips. That way both screen and hard buttons could work the same way (since screen buttons would only be numeric).

    I have:
    Unfiled
Personal (with a space at the beginning for sorting)
    Misc
    Numbers
    Other

If I try to enable/disable, for instance, 'Other', 'Misc' gets changed. If I try to enable 'Misc', 'Personal' gets changed.

    I see the problem now.
Probably caused by you deleting the "Business" category.

    Will try to fix asap.

    Simon,

Is there an option somewhere to allow pressing of the green phone button to initiate a call? I normally have my phone in the hard case and therefore usually 5-way navigate around, but today I didn't and I noticed if I dial a number and hit the green button, it switches to the next tab in the interface.

I'm thinking maybe this is a pref somewhere, as it seems intuitive to dial if the user has typed in some numbers?

BTW I'm not seeing the DTMF option, poked through prefs and looked in volume. I have updated to the 103 beta.

One more thing.. The setup you described in post 421 makes perfect sense to me, blip or DTMF for what's displayed.

And since I'm rambling here, I might as well add one more thing. Even on 1, I notice that the DTMF tones are really loud (such as sitting at my desk at work in a quiet lab environment), do you have any control over their volume and if so, maybe adjust the scale a little where 1 is quieter?

Cheers for an awesome product and support!

Doh, I did the update in Blazer but it went into nowhereland apparently, I was still on 103. The new options show in 105 now after updating by downloading to SD card.

Using the DTMF is much nicer for me than the blips.

    Shimon,

On occasion after a crash, I use the ##377 feature to see the offending app, but I notice TP dials it as if it were a regular number.

Is there a way for Takephone to handle this the same way as the regular phone app or is this something specific to the way Palm handles their phone app?

    Hi,

I think the problem is this number is programmed into the built-in dialer, so it can not be dialed from an external app (has to be entered manually).

Can you use that from the favourites (the built-in one) ?

I could probably create a favorites, but I hope I wouldn't need to use it so often that it requires it's own shortcut

In any event, I'll probably just dial it from the phone app if need be. Hopefully not too often.

I've already tried a favorite on my 600 and it doesn't work--either from the native phone app favorites or TAKEphONE favorites with and without a Quick Launch key. It seems that it's only available from the native phone app dial pad screen.

I thought so, that's why I asked about doing it from favourites.

It seems the dialer tracks the MANUAL dialing of this, and will not handle it if called from address-book/ favourites...

    Happy Anniversy 6.50 Beta!

I cannot believe I remembered this date, but its been 1 year since this software went into beta. What is fascinating is Takephone customers are very happy even though there hasn't been a traditional software locked version, such as 6.50.

Love the software. Maybe if Microsoft just declared Windows as beta perpetually then I couldn't complain about it either. A some point Shimon has to charge for this otherwise there won't be a 7.00 beta.

I actually bought this software a year ago and didn't use it on my 600, didn't really energize my phone. But on a 650, the slowness of the built in dialer just had to end. Takephone is fast, crisp, and TRULY better then the built in dialer on the 650.

    Everyone should have it.

I have not been able to get my phone app to start in the default way, by pressing the green phone key, since installing takephone. I tried uninstalling takephone and now when I press the green phone key I am taken to my phone number directory page.

Am I missing something here? Please help.

    najulian,

Go to Shimon's site: (shsh.com), click on Downloads then on Free Stuff. There's a utility there called BtnFix that I think will solve your problem.

FYI, I believe this utility is for those who have uninstalled TAEKphONE and want to get the old phone button functionality back. If you still want to use TAKEphONE, describe the issue to Shimon and I'm sure he'll get back to you as soon as he comes back from vacation.
