    Aloha Shimon,

I am loving this TAKEphONE product of yours...GREAT JOB!!!

I have an idea I thought I would run by you. Considering the popularity of customizing the user experience with personalized wallpaper images, perhaps you could allow us to use our own jpeg images as wallpaper. Being the proud papa that I am, I certainly like the idea of putting my favorite picture of my 4-yr old where I can see it frequently (see proposed example).

How about allowing the user to default their own image over the TAKEphONE keypad. Then, as soon as the user touches anywhere in the image, pop up the keypad at that time. For example, I could use my speed dial from the find screen, or punch in numbers on my treo, all the while seeing the smiling face of my little boy. But if I need to use the on-screen keypad, I would simply touch the image with my thumb and voila, the on-screen keypad would appear!

What do you think? Anyone else like this idea?

    Thanks for your consideration

I think this is an excellent idea...in fact, I pm'd gpco about his avi, because I thought this was a feature of takephone that I had overlooked.

    Hi Shimon,

I am in the process of writing a review of TAKEphONE on Treonauts but I've come up with a problem.

The issue is that all of my numbers are stored in the +(Country Code) format and I am trying to use them with a calling card.

TAKEphONE dials the calling card number fine but then does not automatically translate the '+' of my number into '00' when dialling the number.

For example, if I want to call this number +336 1234 5678 stored in my contacts the call will not go through but if I manually change it to 00 336 1234 5678 then it will.

I would greatly appreciate it if you could help me with this issue.

    Thanks,

    Andrew

    Hi,

Can you tell me what settings you have in TAKEphONE's
    "Telephony" preferences page ?

I mean mainly do you have "Dial number as is" ?
Or "North amreican dialing" ? if so - what did you configure in it ?
Or "Translate based..." ? if so - what did you configure in it ?

And - what is the call-card script you are using ?

    Thanks !
    (and thanks for reviewing it)

    Shimon,

Accidentally found a small issue. I was in a contact and from the drop down menu inadvertently hit "send contact" and it reset my phone. In the preferences I have e-mail set to MMS, but I don't ever use it. And I don't currently have an e-mail app.

Also, on a different subject, how difficult would it be to enable the default touch tone sounds from the phone app.

    Thanks.

    Hi,

    I will check it out.

What do you mean by "default touch tone sounds from the phone app" ?

The DTMF tones. Well, I don't know if they're technically DTMF, but the tones you hear when you press the number pad buttons on most cell phones in the US. To me, it seems more natural and its easier to tell that you've pressed the right button.

    Simon,

Is it possible to not make DTMF sounds if you've 'dialed' a name. Like if I put "karen" it goes blip blip DTMF DTMF blip. Maybe if the dial starts with a number, let DTMF tones sound, but otherwise just blips?

The attached DTMF pdb is great..

For version 103, under "Filtered" configuration, clicking on a category enables/disables the wrong entry in the list. (e.g. the one above it!)

    Hi,

Can you supply more details -

    - What do you mean by clicking ?
    - Do you mean it checks/unchecks the cat. above it in that list, or it shows ok in the list, but not in the "real" find results ?
    - What device are you using ?
    - Can you tell me what categories you have, and how they show up there ?

    Thanks !

I'm on a Sprint T650. When I choose to configure the "Filtered" category, I get my list of categories for contacts. If I choose a category in the list, and then press 'Enable' or 'Disable' it applies the setting (shown by a little check mark) to the category ABOVE it. I think your code has a typo for the category array (e.g. index -1 ????)

Hmmmmfff.. I should have thought ahead a little on that one..

Maybe if it started with a letter, make numbers blip instead of DTMF, but then it'd be inconsistant. Although since it does show "KAREN" instead of "KA21N" it makes some sense.

None the less it was a very minor suggestion.

    Great! Thanks Shimon.

Some initial thoughts on the Volume settings with the DTMF sounds enabled:

    - Would it be possible to make the "none" volume setting = "system controls volume" rather than "system sound"?

    - Then could there be another flag to specify "DTMF+TAKEphONE tones", "DTMF+system sound" or "none"?

I think this would a) allow the user to control volumes using other apps like RingProfiles; and b) allow users to have the system sound with the DMTS rather than, as it is now, either hear the TAKEphONE blip or no sound at all on the non numeric options.

Thanks again! Let me know if I'm running over my allotted enhancement requests! ;-)

I thought about this too. What would work the best in my case is to allow and option to disable tones from the "Find" screen if they're input via the keyboard rather than the soft keys. DOn't even know if this is possible.

But, I say this because, to me anyway, the real benefit of the DTMF tones is to get some sort of "bio-feedback" that when I'm pressing a soft key the right number is actually being recognized. This may sound funny, but when I'm doing dangerous things like driving and dialing, I rely on the DTMF tone to know if I hit the right button.

That being said, if I had to choose between no DTMF tones and DTMF tones mixed with blips, I'd choose the DTMF tones with blips.

Can you post (or email me - contact@shsh.com) what categories you see in the "Filtered" popup list ?
