My 650 would not wake up after charging this morning. Soft reset ended with no contacts appearing with Takephone using 6.5 (086). 650's contact program showed them all. Any ideas?

any update on a fix for the crash that occurs when adjusting the volume BEFORE someone answers an outgoing call.

My Treo resets every single time I make a phone call, if I attempt to adjust the volume before the other party answers....this is very annoying! Please help!!

Regarding call notes: any progress on this? Is it still on your road map? LightWav now has this feature... but for me that would be using a sledgehammer to kill a gnat.

Does this happen only when dialing with extension ("hard" pauses) ?
    Or on every call ?

As far as I understood - there is a fix for it in VolumeCare... ?

yes it happens on every call. When I dial a local phone number and then adjust volume level, the phone crashes every time.

Yes- I did get a response from Jeff and he has a temporary fix...which seems to work. it blanks out his volume graph though.

    Thanks for the reply.

I've been trying to clean up my saved / unsaved prefs, and I've noticed a LOT of entries by TakePhone (TkDl) - any idea if / when you will be creating your own database to store pref entries in? I do know that many developers moved away from using the built in saved prefs as it caused unit instability (and I'm getting bunches! ) Thanks.

Also, I've noticed that Return After call doesn't always work so hot on the 650. I know that one reason it was modified was to allow for users to choose Add new entry, but sometimes it doesn't work until you do something on the phone, even if you go into another app. Thanks.

    Hi,

I do plan on making this move, too, in the near future.

Regarding "return after calls" - I have removed that new option in the latest build - at www.shsh.com/beta

    Thanks

    Huh?

I would assume this means you no longer need an external hi res skin file for takephone, but when I delete all of my hires skins, I can only choose between the lo-res skins that are still on my treo 650.

    Explanation?

Progress? Well, at least I can get color traffic maps now...

Me too. I am not seeing the high-res skin in teh latest beta.
  17. #337
If we use another Hi Res skin than aren't we using up more memory by having to carry the default skin packaged into the program? I think it would be best to leave the skin out of the program.

    Hi all,

Let me explain what I did:

The default Hi-Res skin file (tp_default_hr.pdb) is packed within the TAKEphONE.prc when you install it.

    It adds ~48K.

When you run TAKEphONE - if you run it for the FIRST time ever (i.e. it was NOT installed on your device before you HotSynced this version) - the skin is extracted to your memory (as if you HotSynced it).

IN any case - after that - that resource is REMOVED from the TAKEphONE.prc, so you end up with a file the same size it was if I would not include the skin inside.

So - for users who are already using TAKEphONE - only difference is they HotSync a file that's 48K bigger, and once they run it - the file returns to the original size. Nothing else changes.

For new users - they seemelessly get the Hi-Res skin installed and active (as a default).

    Hope this clears things out...

    Shimon,

Ah, good explanation. I'm sure the newbies will find this helpful.

As for the latest beta - kudos! I was getting weird slowdowns with the beta I downloaded two weeks ago, and this one is nice and fast and stable.

I AM noticing one weird problem with it: When I use my stylus to click on the tabs, almost every OTHER tab I tap is registering as two taps.

In other words, I tap FAV. I hear "TOCK" from the speaker. I Click Redial, I hear "TOCK TOCK" from the speaker (as if I tapped it twice in rapid succession, which I did not.) I tap HIST, and I hear "TOCK" from the speaker. One sound. I click DIAL. "TOCK TOCK" goes the speaker.

It is NOT related to any individual tab. I can change the order of the tabs I tap and still get this.

If I click on the FIND tab and it gives me TOCK TOCK, it actually picks the name that appears in the mini-list to dial it.

I *THINK* I have isolated it to Grafitti Anywhere. When I disable it, this "every other double-tap" doesn't occur.

So, you say it is a bug in GA. It may be, but I don't recall noticing this behavior with previous betas of TakePhone.

    Thoughts?

    Hi,

I will check with GA, but I suspect my answer will be the same...
