A working phone is the only requirement to get it activated, but it states in the term and conditions that preexisting conditions are NOT covered.

If you don't believe me why not go ahead and tell Lock/line about the cracked screen when you activate it... Because you know they would refuse to replace it. A cracked screen is not the same as a cracked flip lid but that is irrelevant. The issue I have is getting insurance with the sole purpose of getting an upgrade for a problem that occured prior to the coverage starting and in direct violation of the stated terms and conditions and is in my honest OPINION fraud. But we all know what they say about opinions.

BTW if I'm simply mistaken why is everyone do upset??

I picked up my 600 today!! I don't know how I lived with that pathetic 300 so long.

Did it have the camera? What did it come with?
  4. #24
It did come with a camera. I got nothing but the phone and stylus. Since I was going from a 300 to a 600 i guess they assumed that i had the cables and software.

How can you accuse him of committing fraud? The reason he deactivated his Treo 300 is because it was a piece of junk, and sprint would not give him a 600 in the first place.

Fraud? what about fairness. Remember when the Treo 600 first came out, we all were told Hell no you could get a 600 for a broken Treo 300. My lid broken three times, and each time I pleaded to the sprint rep, I even offered pay the difference for a 600.

So like most people on this board, we had to purchase our Treo 600 for full price, "along with being stuck with a broken 300". Now people who stuck it out with their 300 get them upgrade for free.

Everyone upgrading their Treo to a 600, you may thank you are getting over, But way till you have to start buying New Accessories and Software just for the 600, and kiss all you old 300 Accessories good bye.

Hey... Can you guys take this stuff to another thread? Possibly start your own and all the people who want to complain about stuff can join you? You couple of guys who have fragile egos are ruining this site.

No one is complaining, all of the post has been in line with your original subject. Treo Central "to a point" is about free speech, if YOU DON'T LIKE A GIVEN USER Comments IGNORE THEM".

If you’re not willing to receive a broad range of ideas, and opinions concerning your Subjects then don’t posting.

I love Treo central because it has such a board range of ideas and opinions “Some I may not like” but I will not tell them not to post them.

(This is off topic, but I thought it was required)

Got my 600 yesterday, what an awesome christmas present! The phone came with the camera. $0 out of pocket! What a BIG difference between the 300 and 600!

PalmOne and Sprint have already said that when the 600's are gone, they'll be replaced with 650's. So keep breaking your 300's and use up all the 600's!

I have not been on the forum in months, I stumbled on here looking for a cheap cradle for my old cracked 300. Armed with the info from this thread I headed to my local sprint store and low and behold a 600 is on its way to my. Hopefully by Friday so I can play with it over the weekend.

    Thanks to the OP.

No the reason he deactivated it is because it had a broken screen and he didn't want to pay $25 for a new 300. He is now willing to pay $50 for a 600.

I call it fraud because it IS, if he signs or agrees to a contract that clearly states that pre-existing damage is not covered then applies for a replacement claiming the damage occured AFTER the policy effective date... It is FRAUD!!!

As far as Quality of the T300 that is covered by the warranty. No Sprint wouldn't give him a 600 a year ago, The 600 was brand new and selling like hotcakes for over $500. Why give one away when you have a supply of Refurb 300's. Now 300's are no longer made and 600 will have much lower sale #'s because of the 650. They are replacing the 300 with 600 because that's all they have to replace it with.

Now if someone goes to Sprint and asks for help and Sprint FREELY gives them a 600 due to a known problem like a broken FLIP LID, That is not fraud, that is just great customer service. (that's what Pruitt did.) If he does something like that then more power to ya. If sprint gives the other gentleman one because he has a broken screen... GREAT, But don't fool yourself, if he uses the insurance to get one and claims the damage occurred after the 20 day exclusion period... He's lying and committing FRAUD!!!! That's all I was saying. Lying to get insurance benefits is wrong. If he gets one any other way good for him. I'm not trying to stir the pot here but I am having a little trouble understanding why my statement seem to cause such vitriolic comments in return. I hope that the clarification clears it up.

    Sincerely,
    Dragonman.

My 300 replacement finally showed up today....3 days after talking to LockLine. It looks new; came with a headset, wall charger, and sync cable......AND it's a 600 with camera!!! WOOHOO!!! Having insurance is a good thing, indeed!

I was going to call lockline but i knew that my 300 was still under warranty so I went to the store. I would much rather get a refurb 600 for free than pay out of pocket for a new one. And the fact that I already used my insurance once this year.

Help! I need to simplify life. I have too many phones and gadgets between personal and self employed business. Has anyone heard or putting two different phone numbers on the two lines provided by the Treo 300? on any Treo model? I would use one number for personal and the other for business.

I tried to get my broken hing 300 replaced today and was -shot- down. If I had insurance I might have been able to get it replaced, but if I knew it was going to break, I would have bought the insurance - vicious cycle. I also didn't realize it was a common problem - sounds more like a DEFECT to me than damage. Defects should be covered by the manufacturer and not the consumer.

The only thing offered to me was the $150 rebate on a new phone purchase since I've been a customer for more than 18 months. The problem is that a new 600 or 650 is over $500 - and it's a mail in rebate so I'd have to pay full price now and then get my money back - someday.

I noticed on eBay the 600s are going for less than $200 - very tempting now.

I had the same (cracked flip lid) problem last thursday. I called lockline and the rep said "if you get it replaced through us it will be $50. you should go into the store and they will only bill you for $10"

sure enough i went into the sprint store and they billed my account $10 and said they had no 300's available so they were ordering me a 600.

I know most of you said you got yours for free, but $10 is an extremely small price to pay for a 600 with no stupid flip lid. its supposed to come in thursday. ill let yall know how it turns out.

i got my 600 last thursday and i love it. i never really had a use for a camera phone though because i have one that i always carry with me. the camera on this phone is very poor quality (compared to the 650). but hey for $10 i cant complain but so much.

Ok I just got a Treo 300 off ebay.... I'm curious to see what the cracked flip lid really entails.

I have two small cracks on either side of the filp window down by the hinges on. Is this what you are talking about? Anyone have pictures of the cracks you are talking about.

Also do you have to have the extra protection to get the 600 replacement? And if so can you get the protection on a used phone you bought off ebay? One last thing I thought I read there is an amount of time you have to have coverage before you can file a claim.

    Let me know the details.

I bought the insurance ($5/mo) and turned in my cracked lid 300.... and got a refurb 600 via UPS 3 days later (yesterday). CSR from lockline said they would ship 300 or comparable phone (had no idea what would actually be shipped).

    :-)

Is there anywhere posted on the Treo 300 cracks, what they look like and what's needed to get the replacement 600?
