Anybody note any battery impact post-flash? I was running the "original" re-flash up until last Sunday. I don't really recall any major issues, but then reflashed with Shadowmite #5. Since then, battery life has been VERY bad.

Case in point: yesterday the phone was unplugged ~8am. left for an out of town trip around noon - all on Sprint network. I left my charger at home. Snapper has been set to retrieve mail every hour. By 1pm I was at ~80% power. ~3pm I turned off Snapper retreive completely when I realized I fogot the charger at home. Last night around 10pm, i turned off the "radio", and had ~53% power. This morning ~8 I turned on the radio again, and still had 53% on the battery. I did not use the phone or internet (did not even do anything with the 650) between 8 & 4 pm, and plugged in the phone at 19% battery left: ie 34% battery drain w/o use over 8 hrs!!!

Seem worse than normal to anyone else? Could it be just a bad battery, or has anyone else noticed this...? Thx...

I was just about to try my first flash until I read this. Any truth to this?

Ti-maniac - sorry, I didn't mean to scare anyone. The sound is definately better post-reflash, but there is definately something funny with my phone right now. My guess is that it's my phone, since no-one else has reported this (!). I may reflash again (probably the original reflash) to see if it changes anything - kind of a trial and error to isolate an issue if it's not the battery.

I have been impressed with battery life, and have not noticed any difference after flashing the ROM. I have the original voice quality patched ROM.

I have just flashed with an adjusted version of the minimal ROM. I have been running variations with one of the others, then had some reset issues after a flash. I have had outstanding battery life overall. I will keep an eye on it, but I'm not expecting any battery problems.
FYI, minimal ROM with Resco Explorer, TreoHelper, CardExport 2, Datebk5 and Chatter.

Hey guys - I've been trying to reflash the original after playing with Shadowmite #3. Do I need to install the original ROM directly from RAM, or from an SD card? I tried it both ways earlier but with no luck - it stayed stuck on Shadowmite #3.

    Help
    ?

I know that whatever I flash has been there. Always from the SD Card.

Happy new year! Your post about the laser caught my attention. This is a really cool idea! Can your laser be used to cut limbs 100 ft high? I'd love to hear more about it? I may want to build one too.

    AIRJOE:

I've been having exactly the same problem with shadowmite ROM #3. I am concerned that this deep cycling of the battery on a daily basis is going to wear it down much quicker. The only things that #3 and #5 have in common that are otherwise unique from the other ROMs are Notepad and VoiceMemo.

I wonder if any users of the other ROM builds would be willing to install those apps in RAM and see if they have an adverse reaction on battery life?

Meanwhile I believe I'll be reflashing this evening to ROM #2 or the original sound patch depending on my mood at that hour...

    Thanks

Hmmm... I wonder if voice memo or notepad do something funky when put in ROM? Anybody else seeing anything along these lines?

I put the original update back on, and it seems to be using battery normally again. Maybe I'll go to #4...
  13. #1013
Hmm, interesting. I am using the rom with notepad and voicememo and there is no difference whatsoever in battery usage. Is there some other program you installed that you haven't yet with the original? Something has to be different...
  14. #1014
I also have ROM #3 installed. So far, no excess battery drain.
  15. #1015
Well, I had downloaded ringtones before with the original update, and again with the #5 reflash, but hadn't redownloaded them (because they don't seem to back up w/ backupman???) with the reflash back to the orginal update last night. I used backupman each time, and the only hangup/failure with backupman is ringtones as I mentioned... I had also set specific ringtones to some people in my contacts/favorites, which I haven't redone since the reflash last night. Those are the only differences I can think of at the moment.

FYI - I unlugged the phone this morning at 8am, and have not really used it, and am still at 97% as of 2pm. Big difference between yesterday and today.

Is there a program which can show what's using battery (ie processes like on Windows) if something isn't disconnected on exit (ie Vision, voice memo, etc?)? Shadowmite, if you're having no issues with essentially the same version, then I'm inclined to think something else's funky (on my phone - or with the user... )...

    AIRJOE & SHADOWMITE:

The only thing that changed on my Treo post update to ROM 3 were ZLauncher updated to 5.10.3 (Build 041214) and Aggression 1.9. Oh and I downloaded Verichat but that is now expired so I am not sure what build it is. I am going to remove it right now and go about my day and see if that is the cause. I'll report back later this afternoon/pm.

Thanks for you interest in our problem Shadowmite.
