hey shadowmite... u sure that isn't a 500mW (miliWatt) laser?
    BOFH/Chavous Camp

Don't know what BOFH stands for? See here.

Yep, I'm sure I meant mega... You tell me the firing pulse, it produces 500 Joules of energy... Over a certain amount of time (very small) this becomes the equivalent of 500MW. If 1 joule = 1 watt * 1 second...

Oh and in answer to how to build it, it takes a lot of money! Well, you can rig most of it. But the expensive part is the ruby rod. A 12" long 1"diam piece of excellent optical quality ruby is expensive! But once build you pump it with flashbulbs and the output is incredible!

For more info, do a search for ruby PSS laser.

Are you cutting down seqouyah's? Or is a chainsaw just not your style... oh and when can we integrate that into the 650?
  5. #985
I don't want the laser, I just want the time and money to make one on my own.

Seriously! I'm thinking of starting a new career. (Just can't see doing this network admin/computer stuff for the rest of my working days)

What field are you in if you don't mind my asking?

By-the-way... I think we're all just trying to come up with a reason to post to this thread now so that we can see it reach the 1000 posts mark. (Consider this my contribution. )

Heh... I don't mind. I hinted at it a good bit over in the Wifi thread... Are you telling me you haven't read all 1300+ posts!??! (Dunno what it's really up to, but it's huge!) Anyway, I'm in telecom (sonet network engineer) and normally always travel everywhere. But lately I get to be home for a couple months straight so I'm passing time. I've always wanted to build a class 4 laser. So I figured why not do it with style!

The option to force roaming would be a AWESOME! Getting tired of going to my basement for the blessed roam signal . I have one bar of signal at home and I'm on-call quite a bit, the connection is bad. I usually can tell them to call back on a landline. When in the basement I'm on roam and calls are great. Hoping you can get somewhere with this Shadow.
    TIA,
    DJ

    My contribution to 1000.

In SnapperMail, enterprise edition 2.0.4 can you store messages straight to Card, or do they have to download to RAM first?

Well, I finally got over my fears and installed one of the ROM updates. I realize this will seem like no big deal to many of you, but I am definitely a low-ish level power user, so this was a huge step for me.

All I can say is "wow". The difference in voice quality is really impressive. The two people I called both asked me if I got a new phone. And having the DUN patch in ROM has eliminated the "setup device" bugginess I was getting when it was in RAM.

Shadowmite...I am right impressed. This stuff is getting WAY too fun.

I even figured out that I could install the ROM update without a card reader by mounting the card in Missing Sync and moving the files onto the card that way.

By the way, the voice memo and note pad apps rock.
