Ptune sucks. I downloaded the trail of the deluxe version. I tranfer all of my file through Windows media player. When the 15 day trail expired I install the free version "from palmone". Tried to play my songs, and more then half where convert to wma format. I used card export to tranfer the original mp3 to the audio directory, and the song play fine.

Ptune tries to trap you,, so that you would have to buy the deluxe version. Why palmone gives you this piece of sh*t I don't know why.

I hate the treo, and palmone. Most of the extra software we purchase and installed to get proper functionality out of the treo;come free with most Pocket Pcs. I think I'm going to switch

Whoa, there, Only the delux version can play WMA's. I assume if you used Windows Media Player to transfer them, that they were WMA from the getgo.
Is your PC set to make an image of the CD to your hard drive? If so, it may be defaulted as WMA. Since the delux version plays both WMA and MP3, you may not see this right away since it will play both formates. You may have thoguht they were all MP3, then they were half MP3 and the others WMA. When you transfer the songs from your PC to your SD cards Audio DIR, are you pulling them from the same location as where Windows Media Player stores it's files? Perhaps your tranfering from a differnt DIR. You may be taking them from an MP3 DIR and Windows MEdia Player may have them under "my Music" or something like that, as WMA files?

IMHO, PT is not, as you say, "this piece of sh*t", it's Real Player that is not all it seems to be. are you using a 600 or 650? Real Player can't stream, PT can. PT does not convert songs to my knowlege, so I doubt you are being trapped. Give us some more details before you lable PT as "is piece of sh*t".
I don't see many beefs with PT, are you sure it's not an error behind the headset?

Give us some more details and perhaps we can get to the bottom of this and get your files back and get this sorted out. Have you contacted PT support on thier site yet? They have good support and also a Yahoo newgroup for support. Try that too.

Let us know more, and we will try to help.

(the whole fact that you transfered them via Windoes Media Player is what I find fishy, perhaps Windows Media Player is the guilty party?)

As far as a switch to Pocket PC, do your homework (don't know if you have or not?), Pocket PC is not as sweet was it looks IMHO, not as many apps out there and I know it's not as Windows plug and play as it seems, at least the older version were, I have seen a lot of Pocket PC converts.

I think windows media player is the guilty party. Now I'm using A trail version of Card export to tranfer the song. But once my free trial of Card export expire, how can I tranfer song to my Device.

In Windows Media Player, click on the "Sync" tab. Somewhere is a list of devices you can sync to--maybe you can get to it via a menu or right-clicking somewhere and hitting properties. I don't have WMP 10 at work so I don't remember the exact steps. Anyways, find the device you are syncing to, right click and choose properties. In the options listed you will find something like "Allow WMP to convert files to the correct audio quality"--if this option is checked, a lot of your MP3s are turned into WMA. Simply unclick this and resync, at this point your MP3s will be sent to PTunes untouched.

If this is too vague of a description let me know and I'll post clearer instructions once I get home.
