it says it's available on christmas....why are you so hyped for...?
  2.    #22
Because christmas is 10 days away.

Also, any update on LJZ gfunk?
That is totally what I am looking for. To be able to play final fantasy 3, and mario rpg is a dream on the cell.
But I can settle for final fantasy tactics advanced for now.

I would still love to know where I can get this demo now. I am tempted to purchase it -- but more than a little bit sceptical.

im guessing the GBA is going to run slow on the 650. i mean...the NES aint all that. can't imagine SNES, or even GBA. sound will be off. studdering. choppy, and probably slow response times.

Plus -- if the rom files need to run in memory, with the 6 MB of ram that the T650 has you'll be lucky to be able to play the few 4 MB GBA games.

Ahh... good ol' usenet! I stopped using it years ago as I witnessed its S/N ratio go from almost infinity to almost zero in a few years

My favorite emulators currently installed on my Treo 650:

free/open source Gameboy (original) emulator: phoinix:
    http://phoinix.sourceforge.net/

free/open source Apple //e emulator: palmapple
    http://palmapple.sourceforge.net/
    Palm Pilot 1000 -> Sprint TP-3000 -> Treo 300 -> Treo 650

These emus are cool but I would never deny myself the pleasure of owning a real GBA SP. This little gadget is one of the best purchases of my life, as close to perfection as it gets.

--Correct, its called Dream Engine, its made from the same foks who make the Nesem

Firestorm runs very nicely on the palm. The problem is it doesn't support the treo 650 5 way pad and it is not supporting gba roms yet until xmas. I run nesem and firestorm with pxa overclocker and I actually have to slow the emulation down on nesem because it is a little too fast. Zodiac runs gba games nicely too it is only a 200mhz processor so the 650 should have no problems. Here is the biggest problem: the smallest gba rom is around 4mb so you need to have atleast 6mb available on ram to play it. How many people with the 650 memory problem have 6mb available?

are you guys still releasing this XMAS day!?!

I've played several NES games on the 650, and they appear to be just fine. GBC games appear to play at full speed, but they have to fix the D-pad. I will check CF's site repeatedly on Christmas morning.

I have 10MB free on my Treo. Question: what size are the larger GBA games? the largest?

who has confirmed it has to be run from memory and not from the sd card. because honestly the only game i want to play right now which for some reason is a 32 meg rom which i find a little nutty. maybe ill have to look for a better one.

for the treo 650 this emulator will be completely useless if it only can run by loading it into memory. most games seem to be at least 5 of 6 megs but i dont even know what this kingdom hearts game is on

    todays the day?

Well, I just downloaded the Demo from crimsonfire.com, and unfortunately it wouldn't run either of the two ROMs that I tried. One was 4mb and the other was 8mb, and my Treo just did a soft reset for both of them. Things aren't looking good so far. I wanna try some smaller ROMs, but I don't know of any that are smaller than 4mb...

The site mentions something about random crashes with some ROMs with sound, so I turned off the sound and tried to run the smaller ROM... still no luck. I think I'll be waiting a little while to spend the money on this one. Great idea, but the GBA support is definitely still in it's infancy.

I paid for Firestorm V1.3 in advance. Just downloaded it and guess what, NONE of my GBA roms work on it. I tried 15 different ROMS. All attempts to run a rom result in a reset of my Treo. Looks like I was suckered on this one!

thanks for the lump of coal firestorm. if u can fix it by end of day I will forgive you.

Yeah, not only do the gba roms not work but they still haven't fixed the controls to work with the 650 or atleast I can't figure it out. I am using the zodiac set but there is no up or down so it works ok for side scrolling games but nothing else.
