I was wondering if there are any settings that need to take place on the Exchange Server side to allow for ActiveSync to actually work.

My IT department is super conservative about allowing remote access. It seems too good to be true that I can get my Exchange info to a new 650 "out of the box".

There are many settings on the Exchange server and on the network firewall that have to be made to allow Exchange Server Activesync to work. Your company needs to be running Exchange Server 2003 or Mobile Information Server with an older version of exchange. I believe SSL is also required to get it all working. Also, if you do not have a front-end back-end exchange environment you will have to make a few registry changes on the single server. You are pretty much at the mercy of your IT department for this one.
