I CONVERTED FROM POCKETPC TO T650 & NOW NEED SOFTWARE
I had a POCKET PC until I had just received my TREO650. I am looking for PALM Software that would be a MUST to have that is compatible for T650... I also need to find these Pocket PC applications; 1. Battery Pack 2. Journal Bar, in the PALM aplication or as close to the original POCKET PC version as possible.

    re Journal Bar
After reading up on Journal Bar, it appears that InfoMan offers similar features:
    . . . http://www.arslexis.com/palm/infoman/overview.html
I think the pricing is something like $39/annual. It's a new product, so be sure to take advantage of the fully featured trial before you buy.

Weather component, for free, via http://pda.accuweather.com . Insert zip code, go to page, then save as bookmark. (FWIW, I've tried all the browsers, and adore Xiino. In addition to being FAST, you can save a page to memo and other helpful features. D/L available at mytreo.net {see below}).

    re Battery Pack
As regards the graphing feature, there's a freeware app called Battery Graph.
    . . http://palm.jeroenwitteman.com/BatteryGraph/
This one appears to be compatible with any OS5 device, so it's worth a look-see, esp since it does relate to hi-res.

Several apps allow a view of battery usage while also monitoring missed calls, etc. The best, IMHO, = 2day: . . . http://www.shsh.com/products/
You'll notice that a plug-in is available, which would give you the weather component of Journal Bar. Otherwise, 2day will keep you informed via numerical notations of calls missed, email, sms, Instant Messages, and other needed info. $12.95, and an update for the 650 was recently released. Fully featured trial available.

In terms of data usage, as well as primetime vs anytime minutes, I've found Phone Tools Pro to be super helpful.
    . . . (home page) http://tinyurl.com/6lces , Handango page: http://tinyurl.com/6pxqo
$20, and it's unclear to me whether it's fully Treo 650 compliant. If not, like others, an update should be out shortly.

    Notes
Your best bet would be to take a walk through the main offerings in the "Downloads" section at
    . . . http://mytreo.net/mytreo/modules.php?name=Downloads
There's a specific Treo 650 section, but it lists only 2 apps. Don't let that get ya down, as you'll quickly discover that many of the Trep 600 apps are now ready for your baby. Pay attention to the developers' forums at mytreo.net to see details re Treo 650 compliancy. One huge suggestion before you start engaging in a try-out festival: get a backup program, such as one which will auto-backup on a schedule you dictate, as well as permit a global restore and a restore by individual files. I've used various apps in this category. The best IMHO = BackUpMan:
    . . . http://www.bitsnbolts.com/backupman.html
$10/trial available so you can load it NOW to protect yourself.

Also see: http://www.theshiftedlibrarian.com/s...MyTreo600.html to get a better idea of what's available and why you may care about xyz app as opposed to abc app. There are other informative similar pages available. Google "what's on my treo"

Have big fun, and welcome to Palm land!

I knew I saw a really nice and long listing of treo 650 compatible apps, but it took a while for me to backtrack and locate it. Here 'tis:

I too "converted" after using PocketPCs since the Jornada 500 series days (I think 4 or 5 units). You will LOVE the 650 after realizing a couple things:
    1. Joy of not having to "close apps" in order to free up memory
    2. MUCH more stable (iPAQ 2215 crashed all the time).
I used exactly what you used, I found that TreoAlarm is a GREAT app if you used the weather feature of Battary/Journal Bar. I mapped it to my calendar button.

I still use ewallet just switched to Palm version for 10.00 and actually like it better on Palm. For all you news and such I just use Blazer to go to My Yahoo.

I am fast becoming a Treo junkie and you found the right place to get more info than you can possibly believe.

TreoRenegade: wow, excellent post. That's what I call going the extra mile to provide some valuable info.

I'm a PPC user as well. Have yet to find anything that compares to Journal Bar. Wish OmegaOne would do some software for the POS.

I've tinkered with Weather Manager which can be used alone, or as a Facer plugin. It's okay, but all you'll get is weather, no news headlines like JB.

Agendus also has weather updates, however its not too stable a program at the moment. Too bad, as its otherwise a great PIM replacement. But, like Weather Manager, you won't get news headlines.

Also theres the tried and true WorldMate as well. I've used it on both platforms, and the look and feel are the same.

Haven't yet found anything comparable to Battery Pack, but I was Sprite Pocket Monitor user

I really really like Handmark's Pocket Express. Quick and easy access to news, weather, maps, movie listings and I bet I've used the 411 feature daily. I have it set up to automatically update every 6 hours, which it does flawlessly.

I was looking into that, but isn't it a subscription service? Didn't feel like paying for what I could essentially get for free.

Remember... Journal Bar (for PPC) is FREE... Meaning after the purchase of the software, there was NO monthly or annual fee required to get the same information as some of the other "PAY" applications... Journal Bar updated automatically with each hotsync. If you needed information that would change (i.e. weather, top news stories, etc.) then you would just hotsync again. Why does the closest PALM applications to this always have to have a monthly/annual fee involved to get the SAME information as the POCKET PC platforms get for FREE...??

Can MR. GEAKWARE write or modify an application to closely resemble "Journal Bar," of course without infringing on any legalities, to make the information update from just the hotsync feature...??

    Dir Assist:
    www.home.triad.rr.com/rlwhitt/palm

    FlightStatus:
    www.andrewsoft.com

Directory Assistant will let you find residential or business #'s (free) and Dial, Copy to contacts, Get turn by turn driving directions or Map w/ a single tap. (Map function looks better w/Mapquest).

If you are a commercial Pilot, you will like this. Flight Status will give you Altitude, Speed and ETA simply by entering Flight #.

I use Dir Assist all the time. I just downloaded FlightStatus, it looks pretty helpful. But I can definetly suggest DA.
