I saw a Thread discussing a program for 600 that estimates T650 memory usage. Now I cant find it or the .prc. Anyone help w/the link?

    Thanks Mark

    My results were:
    13,201 records
    11,828,923 bytes uses
    5,475,141 bytes wasted

I have 1900 contacts and about 350 memos.
63 Applications (Not sure these are included in the calc)
My T600 Memory Info: Free Space 11.5 of 23.8 Meg

Is this only for T650? or can this be used to estimate what will be used/wasted on the T650?

    ouch... 37074 records, 18694312 bytes, 14996312 wasted...

I guess I need to look for a way to get rid of old appointments...

    I am wasting over 8MB....

This is the shame of P1.

You can use it on your current Treo to estimate what you will loose when you move over to the 650. Since I do not know the details of Treo 650 memory management, it is only a rough estimate, but should help you to find out whether you need to worry.

To pin down the application that is causing the problem, I would use FileZ, and then sort by records. It seems that on average, 400 Bytes per record remain unused, so the number of records in a database seems to be a good indicator of it "inflation" potential.

My Treo 600 results (I added commas):

    20,091,463 bytes data in 19,932 records - 8,258,489 bytes wasted (29%)

WOW. That's huge! Of course, if they would have just put 64 megs of internal memory in the 650, I doubt anyone would care that much.

so is the percentage that the program the amount of space that we should calculate is used in addition to the amount of space currently used. take Crowza for example, should he calculate an additional 29% of his currently free RAM would be used on a 650?

No, crowza should expect to use an additional 8.2MB on the 650, and so not to be able to fit his data onto a 650 without moving some to an SD card

Okay, so I get 14196635 byts data 17660 records. 7306341 bytes wasted (33%)

    14196635 divided by 1024 and 1024 again = 13.53 on T600
    13.53 x .33 = 4.467
    13.53 + 4.467 = 17.997 on T650

So, on a T650, I will be using about 18 megs of the 23 available. Good thing I am already used to making extensive use of ZL !!!!
