When I moved from my Treo 600 IBM PC to my Treo 650 Mac G5, I did it as follows:

I beamed my contacts and other databases. I installed all things clean, but the new user name in the Treo 650 is George650. In the 600 the name was George600.

Now backupman's registration code is linked to George600, not to George650.

How do I change the name on the 650 from George650 to George600? Where do I go in the Palm where do I go in the Mac's Palm software?

I see Hotsync has a User rename scheme going, but I changed it there and the hotsync crashed. I'm concerned a lot of my programs from the 600 were linked to the user name also.

    Any advice?

Hmm, I've never tried editing the user name in Hotsync. What I've always done is make a new user the name you want and they hard reset the Treo and synched it. Works perfect but you will need to reinstall everything.

the solution is ChangeName, from Colin Mulliner

The palmOne support information specifically points you to PalmGear to download the ChangeName program. Unfortunately, PalmGear no longer has it available. But, you can get it here:
