Fry's Electronics has the Supertalk (identical to supertooth) for $129.99 with a $30 mail in rebate. I picked one up. It works great. WAY louder than the Motorola HF800 I used to have.

I live in the Bay Area and I picked one up last week from the Fry's in Concord and no mention of rebate. I will check back with them. Thanks....

I just got the Supertooth off eBay, and it's not working right (at all). I got it ring, when I first set it up, but it wouldn't answer the phone. I was able to answer the phone, and transfer it.

Since then, I've been unable to get the S-T to even ring. I've tried handfree, headset, leaving discoverable on, etc... It'll "activate" if I manually transfer everything over, but it won't ring and transfering is sketchy at best.

I assume the basic settings are:
Pair with discoverable on (does this even matter?), handsfree on the S-T
When it rings, I should be able to answer with the S-T.

Am I missing something, or do I have an eBay special / bad unit?

Well i was driving home today and got a call. My supertooth didn't ring and when i pressed the answer button nothing happend. I am wondering if the palm car kit update will fix anything, but i doubt it. Is this similar to the problems others are having? I can make a call with the supertooth no problem, but receiving a call seems to be the issue. If i can't get this thing to work, it's going back
  11. #211
That's what happened to me. According to the manual you should press the answer button (if I remember) once when you get to your car. Maybe that might help.

According the the manual you can pair the supertooth in either handsfree or headset modes. I don't know if this will make any difference in terms of performance with the 650. I am going to try both and see if it makes a difference.

I don't know about you guys, but I am starting to get really tired of how poorly bluetooth was implemented on the 650. I hope P1 is working on apatch. Not going to hold my breath though.

Well i re-paired using the headset mode and had a friend call me. The supertooth did indeed ring this time. I don't know if this will be consistent thought. We'll see.

    Handsfree pairing:

    1. Press the Answer
    Button (Long press).
    Do not release
    yet.

    2. While pressing the
    Answer Button, turn
    ON the Handsfree Kit
    by sliding the Power
    Switch to the right.
    The Bluetooth
    Indicator will turn
    ON (blue blink).

    3. Wait for the Bluetooth
    indicator to change color
    blink from blinking blue
    to alternate blinking of red
    and blue. At this instance,
    release the Answer
    Button.

    Headset Pairing:

    1. Press the Answer
    Button (Long press).
    Do not release
    yet.

    2. While pressing the
    Answer Button, turn
    ON the Handsfree Kit
    by sliding the Power
    Switch to the right.
    The Bluetooth
    Indicator will turn
    ON (blue blink).

    3. Wait for the Bluetooth
    indicator to change color
    blink from blinking blue
    to alternate blinking of red
    and blue. At this instance,
    release the Answer
    Button.

    4. Press the Answer
    Button once again.
    (But short -time press only).
    Release immediately.

I thought the 650 only supports the hands-free profile and not the headset profile.
  15. #215
I've set it up both handsfree and tried the S-T in headset. In neither case am I able to answer the phone using the answer button on the S-T. I'm thinking it's a bad unit unless someone posts a trick...

    Hey Mtreosexual,

I don't think there is any functional difference in the SuperTooth and SuperTooth 2. Are you thinking of getting one?

For my money, the best headset/carkit I've owned is the Anycom Blue HCC-110 Bluetooth Headset and Car Kit. Got it on buy.com for about $115.00 or so. It's the only headset/carkit I've seen that is both a headset and handsfree kit. We bought 12 of them for our techs out in the field and they love them. Very light weight, good battery life, and the ability to go from handsfree to headset (and vice-versa) on the fly is very convenient. You can check it out at http://www.buy.com/retail/product.as...0&loc=101&sp=1

    thewildman,

I saw this last night at Fry's Electronics. The sales guy said customers rave about it. Unfortunately, I am too retentive to have things hanging out of the cigarette lighter 24/7. I am sure it's a great product.

I couldn't wait any longer on raytel-llc.com to release the Tellphone 4000 Blue, so I bought a temporary solution until it's released. I bought another SuperTooth visor device in firmware version 3.5 which been more problematic than my device with version 3.3 - I will switch them between my cars today. In this case, older is better.
