    If I fully charge a battery in my 650 and then remove it to carry it as a spare, any idea for how long it can sit in my briefcase (not in a phone) and remain charged?

    Lithium Ion batteries can remain charged for a couple of months when inert with little degradation.

    I tried it with my spare - it was about a week before I switched it (after a full charge) and it showed 98% on the battery meter - very little discharge while riding in my pocket.
    Remember, the "P" in PDA stands for personal.
    If it works for you, it is "P"erfect.

    Li-Ion batteries lose charge slowly, even when not being used. I found this page to have some useful information:
