The largest file size on my Treo 650 is called "Messages Database". I can't figure out what is in it. According to the ZLauncher File Manager it's currently 2554k and has 79 records (32k per record!).

    It's not:
    SMS, Versamail, Memos, Tasks...

Does anyone know? I'd certainly like to reduce its size.

    Thanks.

it's SMS/PictureMail/Video. It's the database for the messaging application. Trust me, I had a problem with with the treo reseting when sending more than sixteen pictures through messaging. It bloated that file so I had to delete it.

That's odd (although not necessarily suprising) because all of my pictures are on my SD card. I did try to send about several pictures at once via SMS and my device crashed too.

So, if I delete it, what happens? Is it just a bloated file that the Palm OS will rebuild after I delete it?

    Thanks!

    I'll answer my own question.

    1. I moved the bloated "Messages Database" to my SD card - just in case.
    2. Did a soft reset.
    3. "Messages Database" is now back in ROM and, I'm happy to say, at 9k.

How did you move the Messages Database to your SD card?

When I moved my Messages Database onto my SD card, it is 194K. On the Palm, it is 400K.

    What is going on?

Files are much larger in 650 because of NVFS issue.
I am using GSM unlocked. Can someone tell me is Message Database much smaller after upgraded to 1.08 on Spirit 650.
RescoExplorer is a good tool to view the size both their normal size and NVFS size.

I was about to move it to SD, but hit "Save" instead. Where does it save it? And how can I unsave it?
