If you own or have owned a Treo 650, please indicate if you have had to return it for a replacement, and how many times you've done so.

Please note, there are two entries for having returned a T650 only once - one to indicate that you returned it to have it replaced, and one to indicate that you returned it _and did not replace it_, that is, went back to T600, or regular cellphone, or whatever.

i'm thinking it might be a good idea to occasionally 'bump' the topic, to keep the poll coming up fresh for the next few days. moderators, how often do you think this would be useful/effective?

The only "valid" way to run a poll like this is to allow poll-takers to update their answer (because, in general, a poll-taker's response will monotonically get worse over time).

False. you'll note that the date the poll was posted is part of the thread title. You'll also note that the poll ends in three days. There may be some small proportion of T650 owners who return their T650 after having voted here, but before the poll closes. It's irrelevant to the purpose of this poll.

There will be future polls. That will help provide historical reference.

Nah - future polls won't get answered - people get bored.

Better to keep the SAME poll and allow updates (though such a poll-beast probably doesn't exist with this forum software).

that's a matter of opinion; i disagree with it. those who have experienced failures are probably quite likely to respond. i don't plan on posting a poll every week. but a new poll every couple of months may provide some useful metrics.

i don't think that's an option in vbulletin polls.

I had to return mine. The letter "P" stopped clicking. It worked but you could not feel the tactile press when pushed. They couldn't fix it at the store so they gave me brand new Treo 650.

Returned once for a dead or stuck pixel. Second unit had one as well, but it "massaged out". I love this device.

I'd guess that most people are coming here for a peek hoping to find the doom and gloom that dominates these boards and are leaving dissapointed.

Returned it once because it kept dropping nearly every call on me for no apparent reason.

Still is. I'm probably going back to the 600.

scondon, what area are you in? And if you don't mind, would you be willing to PM me the first six digits of your phone number?

Reason I ask is, There are times when a CDMA phone doesn't like a particular type of network gear, and Sprint PCS has at least three known phone switch vendors, Nortel, Lucent and in very old markets, Motorola. I'd like to see what gear is being used in your area and can do that with the area code and exchange.

FWIW: I'm in 732-309, and Lucent gear is being used in my area. My Treo hasn't dropped a single call in 420 minutes of on-air use so far.

You must not actually see many posts on this forum if you are ignoring enough to think there isn't any doom or gloom here.

you must be ignoring the several polls that show pretty clearly that the majority of T650 users are happy with their purchase, even with the shortcomings.

unscientific? of course. any less valid than using the number of threads and posts by people complaining about the shortcomings to come to conclusions about this? nope.

so, we're at 81 votes. it'd be great to reach at least a hundred votes to normalize the percentages.

"get to 100% to normalize percentages"?

    Very odd comment...

What, is long division a little tough for you? ;-)

if you're going to put quotes around something, at least quote accurately.

the above is not what i wrote. with 100 votes or more, the percentages will be normalized. if, for example, there were ten votes, and one was for a return, you can say there's a 10% return rate, but it's not accurate. you do know what percent means, right?

1st Treo 650 had a sticking 'p' on keypad. The new replacement they just sent me has a bad video app (screen covered with a green 'mosaic' pattern whenever a video file is played back). #3 is on its way. Great quailty control, P1!!

    anastrophe catastrophe...

I know what percent means, but obviously you don't know what normalize means.

I apologize for my poor quote...you did a much better job proving my point...
