    Hi T/C members.

In LA it is only 7:19 PM. Are we done for the night? I just went and bought
my P1 Wifi card and I am waiting my baby to to finish the Blue tooth fairy hotsync so I can try the latest Wifi files that were posted version...3.1.1

So should I try to get on with my life or should I chill and drink a
cold brew with some boring tv in the background, since all of my
excitement is here waiting for the next update?

I must be the only African American geek in LA that has an addiction to
    Treo Central...

We need to start a recovery program, the first step is "to admit I am powerless over my 650 and watching Wifi posts on Treo Central"

Ok I am sorry, I was just trying add some humor here since I am wondering
    if anyone has anymore updates

Ok ok, back to the drawing board... give me 5 seconds...

This is my first post on T/C and I want to acknowledge shadowmite, kenundrum, euroclie and the others who know more about programming than I do who are working on this. I'm a Verizon customer who wants the Treo 650 and would love to use both the hacks described in another thread to get it to work on verizon, and this hack so I don't have to totally give up WiFi (I use a Tungsten C now.)

    Thanks for the effort!

Just checked back after being gone for a few hours, and oh! Two more pages. New excitement. Thanks again to everyone who contributed. I am looking forward to staying tuned into this thread and hoping that we have a happy ending.

We have many more tricks to go, despite running excessively low on redvines and diet pepsi... Hmm, where'd I put that chainsaw?

So, I'll have another trial ready in a while... Thanks and stay tuned!
I was wondering about the firmware files for primary and secondary... I'm guessing that these are really .PDB databases with raw data that gets uploaded into the SyChip card for each function of the sdio client controller?

For those interested, specs for SDIO can be found them below:

Well, I lied about the 5 second part, I think im done for the night... I'll be on it tomorrow morning... I've crashed my 650 simulator so many times it finally filed for a insurance claim...

Excellent day though, I can't believe the progress.

This is the reason why I love the Treo. Simply the best community behind the product.

You guys are some kind of heros. Way to go Shadow!

Ok, just finished reading the thread. Great research efforts guys! As stated earlier, I picked up the Sandisk WiFi card/256mb combo from CUSA tonight since it's only $79 right now. Hopefully it's similar enough to the P1-branded one in the end, but we'll see.
I'll be able to test out the most stable driver release with the SanDisk sometime Saturday morning.

Awesome, I'll start tomorrow morning looking up the routine that's crashing it... I've seen that in the code... Just for anyone else who wants to know, we are dealing with the wifipanel.prc file here, and it's interactions with the netservlib.prc file... We need the netservlib to make it see the card, but adding it causes the crashes when running at this exact function as ls3mach posted...

    This is an amazing community!

As I read all 20 pages, I kept asking myself...

Does shadowmite not have a P1 Wi-Fi Card YET?

If he had one, he would not have to rely on other people to test his 'releases' and he could be making much faster progress.

My 2 cents : We should get a Wi-Fi Card in his hands ASAP.

Isn't that the call to load the netl library instead, at offset 0x1530 in the code (0x1a3a in the file)? The call to NETs (the NetServ library) is a bit further in the code (0x1568)...

There's already a NetPatch Library in the ROM (on my 600, I don't know for the 650), it would be interesting to know what the "Fake Net Library" (same netl CreatorID) is doing in the memory: does it install itself only if there's no existing netl library in ROM, does it replace the built-in one, or complement it?

(update, after having a look at the file list in your 3.1 and 4.0 bundle)
I see that you didn't include the Fake Net Library at all in those releases. Maybe it would be worth trying adding it along with its enUS locale and see if there's any progress regarding this error message?

    Ls3Mach, check your PM...

On the 650 Simulator, I found a "PmNet Library" in ROM with the same CreatorID (netl) but with a "LiBr" type. In the WiFi drivers, we get a "PmNet Library" but with a "netb" CreatorID and a "libr" type, and there's that Fake Net Library (netl/libr) as well...

    It's getting confusing in there!

BTW, the "PmNet Library" included in the WiFi driver is the file which contains a large code portion which cannot easily be installed on the PDA.

I'll try to see if I can find a way to properly install the PmNet Library despite the large resource...

While everyone is sleeping, I just thought I'd share a story from 20 years ago. In the early PC days, Ashton-Tate of dBASE fame and Lotus with 1-2-3 loved to release program updates which (they thought) were copy-protected to the hilt... just like P1 with today's sheriff app. As luck would have it, there was a fellow in Atlanta with a BBS handle of the "Lone Victor" who typically released the hack to eliminate their copy protection on the same day that Ashton-Tate or Lotus released a new version. It turns out the Lone Victor worked for a big bank in Atlanta and was a beta tester for both companies, unbeknownst to them. P1 staff, are you listening? Shadowmite, Euroclie, and many, many others are continuing a grand tradition. Give them an anonymous hand here. I'm looking forward to today's episode. Count me in for $100 donation to Shadowmite when this is finally soup. Great work!
