I recently ordered a Treo 650, it is going to be my first Treo and I am very excited. However, after reading over and over again all the problems that the device has, I hardly every see any praise of the device.=

I'm not going to falter and cancel my order or anything crazy just because of all this talk I hear about how terrible the device is, I still have faith that this will be an excellent handheld. Could some of the people who love their 650's post here and just encourage me a little bit?

    Thanks,
    Rock

Sure! I've had mine for about a week and a half now, and love it. I've got AvantGo, DocumentsToGo, a few games loaded, and it all seems to working well. I have had a couple of reboots that seem to have something to do with accessing the network for internet access, but there have been only two in about 10-11 days of use, and I've recovered very quickly each time.

You're going to find that, as is the case with anything, the complainers will always drown out the people who are happy. It's just human nature: we always complain, and rarely praise.

Thanks. I feel the same way. It always seems that all you hear is complaints, but when you hear that little bit of positive talking, it really can cheer you back up.

I'm not sure if it's human nature to complain, but I think more people come here for solutions to problems. People who are loving their Treo are don't need to report anything, because they don't need solutions.

    I Love My Treo 650.

My 650 is my first Treo, and I love it to pieces. (Not literally!) I can see how the warts would be easier to see if I migrated up the Treo line from the 300, but coming from an "old fashioned" cellphone and Clie PDA, this baby is incredible. My wife has taken to telling her friends she's a "PDA widow."

My dad has the 600, and while he sees the 650 as only an incremental improvement (evolution, not revolution), he still wants one. Sadly, he's stuck with T-Mobile.

Now, I am not a power user, and to be sure, I know the "power users" here would never let any glitch or bug escape notice. As has been mentioned numerous times before, these boards are a very "self selecting" sample, so it's no surprise that a higher percentage will have specific complaints compared to Joe and Jane user. I'm sure glad there are power users... if only because they'll find the pitfalls before newbies like me stumble into them by accident!

On the other hand, these boards are also helping me become a better - if not a "power" - user. I went from being completely lost to fiddling with ZLauncher and mmPlayer and the SD-resident Documents to Go... and I never would've figured this stuff out without the more helpful threads on this site.

Enjoy your 650. I know you will!

I have had mine for over a week and love it. I have owned a number of PDAs over the years and find that the TREO 650 will allow me to go to one device, instead of carrying a PDA and a phone. I had evaluated the TREO 600, but found the screen grainy and the keys were too hard to read (what happens when you cross 40). I find the screen excellent and the keyboard very readable. I have over 8 meg of memory left, so I am not too worried about any problems there.

This is my first Treo and I love it.....very pleased. So far NO problems.....I have not added a great deal of software, so as I add more I presume I will have some problems (just because of the memory issue).

Like any and all computers, you're never going to be completely problem free.

Love is a powerful word. I doth use it with caution. That said, however, my Treo 650 is rapidly becoming my electronic concubine
I was large and in charge!

I love it. No problems (major) here. Every device will have it's quirks but the good definitely outweighs the bad on my 650.

I love mine too. Hey we all hate Microsoft but we all use Windows right?
I can live with minor issues and the memory issue is minor in most people's eyes.
The screen and just marriage of PDA and phone is sweet.I am sure we all praised and hated the first Motorola brick phone that was about 1ft long, remember?

So far so good. I was thrilled to be able to have free gmail service working with versamail finally. And after all the rebates I ended up paying about 125 for the whole thing. nice to have a connection to sprint corporate. This phone/pda is great; never had one before, and love having lots organized in one. Not sure if I am going to just break down and use my yahoo account and pay the extra 20 per year for pop3 access. Any suggestions from anyone on a bluetooth set?

I love mine. I'm still trying to figure out a few compatibility issues, but I expected that since we're all early adopters. Thumbs up!

My Treo does absolutely everything I need it too and does it well. I have had it two weeks and "tweaked" it for a semi-power user like myself. Pocket tunes, DateBk5, Zlauncher, a few games, extra ringtones, fancy wallpapers, and lots and lots of contacts. Still have plenty of memory left and it operates very quickly. This smartphone really is close to perfect for at least 95% of users (I think Palm is correct about this point contrary to many posts) who need to get organized but want to have some fun. Sure it could more of a "power users" dream but think of it like this: Of course you would like to drive a Hummer, but do you really need a beast like that all he time? Honestly not really for most users. If I had a choice between my $449.00 Treo and a $1,000.00 Treo with more memory, a bigger camera, wi fi, etc... I'd spend the grand because I have no common sense but I seriously doubt I would use all the extra features all that often, but at least my friends would be impressed. A Palm PDA, a phone, and a web browser are the main features I use most of the time. Extras like listening to shoutcast/music, taking some pretty nice pictures, etc.. are just a bonus for me. This is not the "ultimate" smartphone but with everything you get for the price it is one of the most fun toys you'll ever own to keep you organized. Merry Christmas!

I can see how a lot of new users can have this viewpoint when your getting good prices for the 650. but us current sprint 600 users get no chummy refunds and have to shell out over half a grand...
