What is the crosshair icon in the top bar off the phone view?
  2. #2
That's the 911 GPS location icon. When location is on, that icon is there. That is so you can be found if you dial 911 in an area set up for 911 GPS location.

    So, crosshair means location available?

Crosshair means that it is enabled--you are able to be found. Hey, RTFM.

After upgrading to a new splash screen with call details, etc & now there is this little circle with a cross in it (almost like a crosshairs bullseye). How do I get rid of it?!

Sprint was covering this icon by default, it should be there... It shows the status of the AGPS functionality. If it has a red line threw it it means AGPS is disabled, otherwise it's enabled. If you want it gone, I could make a custom splash for you that disables that bit flag, but it's one of the things we enabled.

EDIT: Appears some people had this, others didn't... Short and simple, keep it...

Not sure what the "A" stands for but GPS stands for Global Positioning System. It's the feature built in whereby your location can be found. Good for emergencies and if you rob a bank they will find you. hehe It can be turned off in the preferences but to my knowledge it isn't being used yet by Sprint. Maybe someone else can verify that.

A = assisted, I believe. Means the phone can't do GPS positioning by itself, but needs an assist fromt he cellular network.

yeah...GPS only works thru the tower closest to you. That's how they get your location. And most towers...sprint anyway...dont even support it yet.
