For some reason my PHONE button now brings up the CONTACTS program! I have Contacts5 installed... it doesn't even bring up Contacts5 it brings up the Palm Contacts program... I have not found a way for this button to be mapped to another program.

Anyone else had this issue that could help me?

    Thanks

There is an app called PREFS on the device. Click on it and you will see a section for "buttons" that is where you map the buttons. You can also map 2 functions per button by using the "opt" key first.

    Hope that helps.

THere was another thread about this, they were told to goto the Contacts5 support stie and there is a message board there or something and there is a patch or work around.

Got it! The problem lies with DateBook5, not contacts. You can read about it and get the upgrade fix:
    HERE

If you already have the PHONE button problem, there's also a little program you can get at the above link that will reset the PHONE button back to the PHONE APPLICATION.

For those that don't have an account for Yahoo! Groups, here's a copy of the most recent update:

Please note that a new V-5.4a preview release has been posted:
    http://www.pimlicosoftware.com/datebk5-v54a-p5.zip

This release is a MUST download for anyone with a Tungsten T5 or
    Treo650. It is now recommended for the Tungsten T3, E, Zire-72, 31
as well since it bypasses the DataManager patch completely for the
calendar and memos databases thereby providing faster and more
stable performance. You can run this release on any other device as
well, but there are only tiny benefits - the changes are mostly
addressed at the newer PalmOne devices and their proprietary PIM
    Databases.

This updated release addresses a somewhat obscure issue which on the
Treo650 can end up causing the first hard button to be "hijacked" by
Datebk5 with no easy way to reset it (since the PREFS app no longer
allows you to reassign that button).

This P5 release avoids that problem from reoccurring, and there is
also a link to a small stub app:
    http://www.PimlicoSoftware.com/resetphonebutton.prc
which will FIX this problem if it has already occurred (Just
install, run and remove). This same problem might occur on the
Tungsten T5 (although that's less likely to occur).

This release also includes a workaround for the Treo650/T5 bug of
deleting Todo's causing a bogus VFSDBCache.c error in the PalmOne
DataManager patch which then crashes underneath Datebk5: this
release changes all DmDeleteRecord function calls to DmArchiveRecord
(..) which apparently works ok. I'll remove this workaround if/when
    PalmOne ever fixes their code.

    Cheers!

    The developer patched it

    http://www.pimlicosoftware.com/datebk5-v54a-p5.zip

    http://www.pimlicosoftware.com/resetphonebutton.prc

Install datebk5 as usual, then install the resetphonebutton.prc and run it and the 1st hardware button will be restored to the phone app.

    enjoy

KeySuite's KeyContacts has the same problem. I found no patch, but if you choose to NOT have KeyContacts automatically map the buttons for you when it prompts you, then you can map the buttons yourself later without this issue.
