    Mine shows back ordered.

    I think Palmone realized that Sprint is close to get orders this week or early next week and Palmone wants to prevent large number of cancellations and decided to send this e-mail to everybody who ordered it.

    Gents, your order status will show back ordered... even if you have received the email. Your order status will not change UNTIL they start PROCESSING your order -- that won't be until Monday!!!

    P1 and Sprint will release at the same time... there is no 'conspiracy theory' here!!!

    Whether or not you get your phone from P1 or Sprint... P1 still gets their money, don't worry about that. There is no reason for P1 to be concerned if Sprint gets out of the gate first... although, due to their relationship - THIS WON'T HAPPEN!

    They are in bed together.... not competitors!!!!!!!

    YEP! Cell phone companies do not survive on phone sales. In fact sometimes the lose money on phone sales. The money is made with service and accessories.

    Why would you think that? They aren't getting a shipment of 500 thousand. More like shipments of 25K in total that they have to distribute into the channels. So they are satisfying who they can first...And when the next shipment comes in they will satisfy some more people... Samething happened with the 600.

    Well I am really bummed because I ordered mine on 11/7 at 10:44 PST which was before most of you guys and I have not received crap from Palm One. Maybe I don't have the same connections as the rest of you

    Why do I think that? Well, first they probably cant handle a lot of individual email, particularly with all the bombarding they are getting. Second, everyone who ordered were given either 1-3 weeks or 2-3 weeks. One mass email will still apply.

    Something like "Great news on your Treo 650 order! We have just shipped the first XX number of Treo 650s to those that ordered early. We expect to fill many of your orders over the course of the next few days"

    There are very few businesses that send personal emails and when they do, it is typically an autogenerated email anyway (in mosts cases). When they are personal it generally lacks substance and doesn't ever answer all your questions.

    Oh, and they could close by saying "keep monitoring your shipment status on our online web site". Which is the very next stop for everyone reading their email anyway

    Seems like P1 is damned if they do, damned if they don't with some of us.

    I bet these emails are sent when an order has gone through some processing step. Now I'm sure some will shred them to pieces for not doing it in exact order of receipt. I think everyone should chill and all early orders will probably be shipped the first week anyway.

    For what it's worth, I placed my order around 11:40 Pacific, but since it was my second order (was planning to cancel the first one that didn't include the free BT headset), they called me the next day, which I'm sure caused some delay, and verified which order I really wanted. I presume this delayed my order a bit. It could be that the order of the calls reflects the times when orders were actually processed.

    In any case, I'm chillin and expecting my order to ship the week of 11/22 anyway.

    I received the same message for the headset, but its still not shipping but atl east teh order is processing. With the unit shipping on Nov 22.

    Why do this? I guess it's logistically easier to ship the headsets separately from the Treo? Perhaps the warehouse with theTreos is different from the headset shipping point?

    This is likely a tactic to 1) keep you perking along so you think they are making progress and more importantly 2) lock you in a bit more so you won't back out on your order.

    Once they ship you something, you are more likely to continue to hang in there for the rest, even if it is free they will hook you because you will either have to go through the trouble of returning the headset, or paying for it if you get tired of waiting for the Treo 650 and want to back out, or buy it from another source.

    Very crafty marketing and sales plot. I see it all the time.
