I wonder if they are enabling the bluetooth dun profile? Could they actually setup the warehouse for doing flash updates? They would have to unpack each one and then repack it. Seems like a lot of work.

When the dark clouds gather on the horizon, when thunder and lightning fills the sky, When fate is but a glint in the eye of a fallen Rattler, And hopes are lost friends, When the sinew of the chest grows weary from those hard-charging linebackers, And the muscles in the legs grow tired from those hard-charging running backs ... You must remember that the Rattlers will... Strike, Strike, and Strike again.

Why can't they just ship them out and have us download and install updates when they come in?

As I stated before, I'd be happy to flash my own ROM. We've all done it with the 600. Just send them. (But, I guess they don't want to have people upset they have to update already or deal with all the phone calls from those who aren't savy).

I'll be happy forever after I get my 650, and all my problems will go away.

The reason they do not do this is simple:

Not every Treo 650 user is a POWER user. A gadget freak. Geeks like us.

A good majority of Treo 650 users will have no earthly idea how to Flash ROM. Quite frankly, most of them probably have no freakin' clue what ROM is!!!

This forum, which I love for what it provides (when products are actually OUT), has a fundamental flaw. EVERYONE thinks that we are the target audience. NEWS FLASH, we're not!!!!!!

While we would be more than happy dealing with flash ROM updates, bugs, patches, etc.... P1 would be SUNK if they relied on the 'average' user to do this. We represent the top 20% of Treo users in technical understanding and ability, which allows us to understand reasons and ways to make the device better... but just because WE would use it, does not mean 80% of the other TREO users would.........

.... face it, we're in the minority. P1 does not jump at our beck and call. We can influence, but we are only 20% of the voice.

    Cheers!

Because 99% of users dont know to do stuff like that, and most corporate IT depts are a tad more patient then the message board crowd, and prefer that the product works out of the box
