Does the Treo 300 require a special headset, or can a generic headset be used?

I have found that my Treo does not work with all headsets. I have a Jabra that will not work correctly. I think this is because the Treo handset was designed so you could hang up or answer calls.

It can be used with any generic headset, but it would be advisable to use the one offered by palmOne or Sprint.

I think you need a 4 post (the ones with 3 rings). I had 3 post type (only 2 rings) and it didn't work worth crap. The 4 post type that came w/ my replacement T300 works great. Good Luck!

Yes, you need a 4 ring headset - there are adapters available that converts the 4 ring to the 3 ring for use with any headset. I bought the adapter, and a big cushy headphone type headset at OfficeDepot for about $10 - works great!

i tried using a friends earpiece with mine and i could barely hear it. is this due to the incorrect type of headset or is it actually my treo ?
