I am in NYC and will be attending the Road show next Tuesday. I already ordered my Treo 650, but now see that I can save a lot of money with the coupon.

    1. Can you redeem it like a rebate with a proof of purchase?
    2. If not, should I cancel my order and wait a few days (dont want to though possibly delay my shipment)?

    3. Just buy a second one and sell it on ebay and hope to get almost full retail which I should? I am leaning to number 3.

    Any advice? TIA!

I'd say #3 is your best bet.

You get the Treo sooner.... you sell the 2nd for full price, and you end up with a net expense of only $350.

One thing to NOT do... if you have been following threads here... DO NOT try to peddle the coupon alone. Buy the 650 yourself, and then sell it.

    Cheers!

Thanks TreoDeJaneiro. I have been selling on ebay for a while so I felt this was my best bet. Thanks. I will be looking forward to the road show.

Being the community-minded enemy of scammers that I am, I randomly contacted some of those bidding on the roadshow coupons on eBay. One response was from a fellow in Europe who noted that even the combined cost of the coupon and the phone itself would be lower than he could otherwise achieve. Another buyer, however, responded, "What is wrong with buying the coupon? The new treo 650 is being sold for over 500, the coupon is for 345..." At that point, however, the coupon was at $300 or so. I think something just isn't connecting in his mind....

I don't know if I should start a new thread for a new question, or post in this thread and hope that people who can answer see it. The roadshow comes nowhere near me, but I have a relative in New York who is willing to go in my stead. I realize this may be frowned upon, but I can not afford to upgrade from the 600 without a discount. I have read that the coupon is non-transferable, but if my relative ordered it giving my address, would that work? Also, if you think that doing this is just plain wrong, feel free to comment -- If enough people are against it, I will take that into consideration and possibly ditch the plan -- but please, don't flame.

You might as well do it, but to make sure it works have them ship it to your attending party's address, and then he/she can mail it to you upon receiving it.

I don't recall anyone saying they had to show an ID at the roadshow. So if you register using your name and email address, and your relative goes to the show and signs in as you, I don't see how P1 or VC would know the difference.

That seems like a risk, as I do not have a gender-neutral name, and my relative is the opposite gender. But I thought if we used her name, and my address, it could work.

I'm registered and will be attending the Road Show in NYC on Tuesday afternoon... from anyone that has gone to one already or knows for sure -- just wondering what happens when I get there (as far as getting the coupon goes), and where do I buy the discounted Treo afterwards? Directly from Sprint via mail order? In a Sprint store?

Sorry if it's a dumb question, just want something to look forward to after Tuesday

The coupons are for a third-party distributor contracted with palmOne for the roadshow. You get the coupon at the end of the show, with the website address and a code. You must attend the show to get the coupon and the discount. Your email for the order will be matched to the email you used to register for the show.

Cool.. thanks for the response. So once I get the Treo delivered from this distributor I can just avtivate with Sprint I guess?

    Thanks again.

Yes, just call Sprint to activate. If you all ready have a Sprint phone, call for an ESN swap.

Since the NY Roadshow is November 16th, does the coupon expire on Novenber 30th like all the other roadshows? The folks that attended the other shows will have more time to make a decision. Anyone know what the expiration date of the NY roadshow will be?

Did anyone take advantage of both? Is this possible? After already placing my roadshow order (guess Ill be switching to GSM from Verizon ) I tried calling palmone about it, and they said YES I could add the bluetooth headset for free, and then after 10 minutes of searching told me they don't handle the roadshow orders.

Im going to be a bit dissapointed if I cannot take advantage of both offers. (I AM a faithful user, AND I did sit through the roadshow 'advertisement').

Anyone get this to work? I emailed the vienna channels address to see what they had to say.

    Thanks...

Only way I can see to get both is to order from P1 to get the headset, and order from VC to get the $350 price, and then sell one of the phones on ebay. For the forseeable future, I think you'll be able to get full price for the phone by itself on ebay, less the acution fees, of course.

two weeks isn't enough time to make a decision? i'll be at the show tuesday afternoon and will most likely place my order that evening when i get home. i mean you pretty much want one or you don't, right?

It really is a no brainer unless you are with verizon (and that isn't too hard either.). You get a phone, if you hate it you can resell it for more than you will end up paying for it. If you like it than it is cheeper than getting it from a carrier. If you are with verizon it is a screeming 200 dollar phone treo 600!

My problem is I hane a Treo 600 (Sprint) and I'm thinking about upgrading to a Treo 650. I'll be at the show Tuesday morning but I'll be leaving for the Far East that evening and I'll be away for 3 weeks. By the way, If I want to try out a 650 and I now have service with Spring, will my number be ported over for the test or will they give me another number?

can't you use the sim card from your existing phone in your demo Treo?

when do you get the coupon, at the begining or the end?
in other words do you have to be at the show for the entire time, or can you just go for an hour or so and still quailify?
