    I remember reading something on this forum about NOT being able to use the Sprint Upgrade Program coupled with the Viennachannels 50% off discount (and YES I did a search, couldn't find anything after 10 minutes of searching... so don't flame me). I just spoke to Sprint directly, and they indicated that I can absolutely utilize the Sprint Uprgrade rebate through this means - authorized Sprint vendor - I even gave the details of Viennachannels and PalmOne. The Sprint rep indicated that simply mail the receipt and rebate form to Sprint, and 6 - 8 weeks later, rebate is in the mail. That should make for a cheap 650 - $199 ( $349 - $150). I kept the Sprint rep name and "userid" just in case....

    Has anyone heard anything differently?

    I have heard this but I do not keep up with it since I'm with TM.

    I've asked Sprint about this too. They said I had to get the rebate form from where I bought the phone. But as far as I know, ViennaChannels does not have this. Please correct me if I'm wrong. How will you get this rebate form?

    I have also spken with sprint. And you should be able to visit your local sprint store to get the rebate. It also goes for, new customers and add a phone users (thats me!)

    Here is the official terms and conditions of the 650 rebate offer:

    "Offer requires the purchase and activation of a Treo 650 smartphone between 11/07/04 and 1/15/05 with activation of a new line of service by 1/22/05. 1-year agreement required to qualify for the $100 service credit rebate offer. 2-year agreement required to qualify for the $150 service credit rebate offer. "

    The agreement goes on to say: "NOTE: You must call Sprint to activate your service plan by January 22, 2005 in order to take advantage of this offer. You must agree to a 1-year service contract to qualify for the $100 service credit rebate, or a 2-year service contract to qualify for the $150 service credit rebate."

    Doesn't matter your purchase price or where you buy the phone, all that matters is that you sign a "new line of service". Now, that is where the debate starts. Some say that existing customers cannot get the rebate even if they are eligible and willing to sign a new contract. I WHOLE-HEARTEDLY DISAGREE!! Did this dance last year after purchasing my 600 thru the HS upgrade. I got the phone for $399, then turned around and "renewed" my expired contract with Sprint for a year and got a $100 service credit.

    The terms and conditions are worded the same as they were last year, thus it stands to reason that anyone who is currently operating under an expired Sprint contract is eligible.

    Spoke with Sprint about this twice this morning (called to different times), and they said I could NOT use the handset upgrade program ($150 credit), basically because I can only get the rebate form at the time of purchase from a Sprint Store or Authorized Seller. They did not tell me I could go to the Sprint Store and just p/u a rebate form, if I did not purchase from there. So I will drop by my local Sprint Store and p/u a couple of rebate forms.

    Ok, thanks for the info. Hopefully my local Sprint stores are willing to fork out the upgrade rebate forms. Shanta, please let us know if you were successful .

    I have been told twice from sprint that the handset upgrade program will work in this situation BUT you have to apply for it BEFORE activating the new phone.

    A credit for signing a new service contract is not an "Upgrade Program"! I think Handspring was allowing us 300 users to upgrade to the 600 for $399, then if you were eligible you could bag a Sprint service credit on top of that. Just keep in mind Sprint service credit deals are always available, and have nothing to do with the Treo itself or any other handset.

    palmOne should offer us 600 users an upgrade path. The 600 is such a piece of junk (I'm on my 3rd now). The early adopters and uber geeks that put up with this garbage are the ones that made a 650 possible, cut us a friggin deal!

    How does one "apply for it"? And with whom? Thanks.

    If my father-in-law goes to the roadshow in New York, can he give me his coupon? Or does he have to sign up as me and pretend to be me? Also, I'm pretty sure that I will be able to the $150 discount from Sprint since I have had my phone for 18 months, but wanted to make sure that I didn't screw up with the Roadshow rebate.

    Thanks.

    First you need to register on the website in your name. He shows up signs in using your name. He gives you the coupon. Done deal.....great father-in law!

    Quick question about ordering from Vienna Channels with the Roadshow Coupon (for those that have)....

    My sister went to the RoadShow in Dallas for me since I could not make it and got the coupon. Can I just order the phone with all my information (name, address, CC #) but use her email address? Is that good enough? Or does she need to order it herself and then I just get it from her?

    Just remember that it has to be 18 months since you last activated a phone on sprint before you get the rebate. Doesn't matter if you got a rebate last time or not. So for instance, if you bought a 600 this time last year and activated it on Sprint, you will not be eligible for the rebate *even if* you currently do not have a contract.

    I will find you and contradict you each time you spread these vicious lies

    You should consider my tabled offer of a small wager?

    I've also been trying to see if you can 'double dip' rebates/offers. Alas, this is the response I got from Sprint, make of it what you will.

    "Thank you for contacting Sprint about rebate.

    Here is the last of our sales and service partners :

    - Radio Shack;
    - Best Buy;
    - CompUSA;
    - Wal-Mart; and
    - Costco.

    If they are offering you the handset, you will receive the mail-in
    rebate form with the handset. In case you do not get it, you can
    collect it from the nearest Sprint Store. Please note that the Circuit
    City is not our partner now.

    I suggest you to make a purchase from the nearest Sprint Store as all
    formalities and information will be provided to you there only. Even,
    the store specialist will activate your handset. To locate the nearest
    store, simply click on the following hyperlink:

    http://www.sprintstorelocator.com

    Thank you for contacting us, and we look forward to serving you.

    THis is what the website says as well as what the guy in the store said. Of course if you are right, you are right and I am happy. Where is the evidence?
