I have a Treo 600. I am trying to get my Yahoo email to download onto my Treo. I have the Yahoo Mail Plus that should allow it. I have AT&T. I'm wondering if I've filled in the info to set up my mail correctly. Can someone help me?

They ask the following: and I filled in

    Account Name:
    My Account
    Full Name:
    My Account@yahoo.com
    Email Address:
    My Account@yahoo.com
    User Name:
    My Account
    Password:
    My password
    Incoming (POP3) Server: pop.mail.yahoo.com
    Outgoing (POP3) Server: pop.smtp.mail.yahoo.com
leave mail on serve: Checked yes
    SSL required for POP3:
    checked Yes
    SSL required for SMTP:
    Checked yes
    For Outgoing Server:
    My Account
    PAssword:
    My Password

    What have I done wrong?

Hi Roger - Try leaving off the "pop" part of your incoming and outgoing servers - i.e. mail.yahoo.com and smtp.yahoo.com and see if that works.

First of all ... what mail client are you using? Snappermail?

Here are the settings I use for Yahoo:

    pop3: pop.mail.yahoo.com
    smtp: smtp.mail.yahoo.com

Nope. Thank you very much anyway, meow. It's nice to see a quick reply.

Any other ideas? I'm willing to try!

I don't have the SSL boxes checked on my mail accounts and I seem to recall this causing a problem...try it w/o.

Drat. IT didn't work again...with the SSL off. I've emailed the tech support. Hopefully this will help. Unless you have another suggestion. Thanks for the effort, regardless, meow.

Can you use the same login info to pop your mail on a pc pop client?

I'm not really sure what you mean. What is a pc pop client?

I use Yahoo successfully and have the following fields:
They ask the following: and I filled in

    Account Name:
    My Account
    Full Name:
My Account@yahoo.com ( leave out the @yahoo part)
    Email Address:
    My Account@yahoo.com
User Name:first part of email address
    My Account
    Password:
    My password
    Incoming (POP3) Server: pop.mail.yahoo.com
    Outgoing (POP3) Server: smtp.mail.yahoo.com
leave mail on serve: Checked yes
    SSL required for POP3:
    checked no
    SSL required for SMTP:
    Checked no
    For Outgoing Server:
    My Account
    PAssword:
    My Password

Noticed you had the smtp outgoing server wrong.

I also, signed up with Yahoo for the service to allow you to use other email clients like Outlook etc.. This used to be $10/year but they may have removed the fees.

RogerMoore, my settings are the same as llynx & it works. I do not have SSL on and the ports for pop3 and smtp are standard -- 110 & 25 respectively.

What email client? You might want to try another one, just in case. Eudorasuite has a free one that will work.

There you go! I knew it was something slightly off in the settings because it does work great,

Depending on the carrier, some have it so that when you set up a new account in mail "Yahoo" is one of the choices and all you have to do is put in your email address and password. Makes it a lot easier.
Glad you got it figured out.

Just putting in my 5 cents here, but if anyone has free Yahoo and Hotmail accounts you may want to try OneMail. It works with your existing mail program and you can configure it to download your emails, and also send via those accounts. The only problem is that it does not download attachments.

Onemail sounds great....but I was wondering what other users thought? Tried it? Using it? I am thinking about purchasing it but would like more info before doing so. I have free accounts through Yahoo and Hotmail and would love to be able to get all of it in one place on my treo. Any opinions would be helpful! Thanks!

SnapperMail does attachments. You either need POP3 in the Yahoo Mail Plus, or another option is to use IzyMail as a gateway to Yahoo Mail, which allows you to use the IMAP capabilities of SnapperMail, and you can get attachments that way. IzyMail Link
