I couldn't believe they were displaying thier phone numbers the way ther were, it was too funny. But later Peter Skillsman the Director or product development gave me his card anyway. Down to earth people.

    Roadshow excellent!

Ok I am going to be the first one to admit, I was disappointed with the unit on Monday's announcement, but now I am impressed. The Road show was very cool.

First some rough answers to people's questions:

Palm implied that obviously with Verizon just recently adopting the 600, it would not be phased out for a while. I inferred that Verizon would not be adopting the 650 anytime soon.

I pleaded for info regarding GSM Cingular/ATT: Given a multiple choice question, it seemed liek months, not weeks. My impression was like January, but I may be wrong.

Verizon: I inferred, not in the near future.

Next Treo?: Implied not stated : I personally doubt one before a year to 18 months but: They did liken the treo evolution to Sony Discman. At first there was one, it changed, changed again, broader market, changed again, and then split into separate niches by design. Maning that they hope to be developing different Treos for different users (not soon though). Depends on finances in response to 650. Teens, business, Geeks....

WiFi, president committed to drivers for the Palm Wifi card.

I got distinct impression they were surprised at peoples reaction to the amount of memory. They asked if we would have been willing to pay more for more memory.

    New:
Very cool program from June Fabrics that allowed him to show the display of the 650 on an computer (LCD projector) in a graphic of the 650. It was totally cool.

Functions that I didn't know 600 had: Space bar to move between highlighting in web browser. In list of applications you can hit letters to advance to applications starting with those letters, (m for mail). Ability to hold space bar in favorites to choose different phone number (H)(M)(W)

And best of all, I am getting a new Treo!

Asked about carriers and they suggested that people go with the carrier with the strongest signal in their area. Did get excited about talking about GSM world phone. Palm people had GSM's.

Peter Skillman the director of Product design was very cool, let me play with his 650. He was prevously from Handspring. I told him of a minor complaint I had, he grabbed his minitorx screwdriver and cracked open my 600 and showed me the insides. Relatively easy to open. Talked with him for about 45 minutes.

He showed me a movie trailer on the 650 with headphones. My God, The picture quality was incredible and the sound excellent too. He told me his favorite headphoens were some high end ones he got in Hong Kong.

Oh and rebate for buying Treo that Audible.com was giving for a years service I can't remember $50.00

They had cool vendors too. One of the vendors Avocent allowed the enterprise to monitor every Treo in it's possesion. Monitor Carrier signal, battery life, if the phone was off or on. IF someone stole the phone, they could wipe out data (email, sms ....) remotely. He demonstrated it, very cool.

I took pictures with both cameras, same exact picutures and will post them.

Great experience. Their presentation should be a infomercial. I am a Treo devotee again.

HAHHAHA can't believe they didn't clean up their Treos before showing them.
The Virgin Mega Store is located on Broadway in Times Square....In fact when he was flipping through some of the photos on his 650 (the room number, and parking space etc) one of the photos was of the Virgin Marquee at night. There was no need to clean anything up as far as I can tell (and I was looking for the "buy viagra spam e-mail).

The lady that was taking the questionnaires after the show mentioned that the email on the questionnaire had to be entered into "the system" and had to match the email of the registrant. She said I should wait until Monday before ordering anything to make sure that they'd entered all of the data (I guess they ask for an email address when one enters the order on line).

Did anyone else hear anything like this? Right now, I am waiting until Monday until I put the order in for the GSM version.

Thanks for thinking of me. I'm ready to buy the thing as soon as its available. If there was a place to pre-order I'd do that today.

So they were checking the questionaire email and not the registration email? Darn guess I'm gonna have to contact them then. I used different emails.

Now since it is established by several autos and car phone suppliers, they rolled it with the 650. For Wifi, they say it is still too new and unstable to roll out. Mentioned the integration from wifi to telephony is difficult. "Maybe" in future models.
Oh yeh, just ordered my Sprint T650 online for $349!

How and why did you get it for 349....I WANT THAT!!!

I hope this was resolved in the afternoon session, but during the morning presentation, a June Fabrics window frequently popped up, saying "Trial has expired". Got laughs from it at first, but it started becoming a nuisance after a while. Still, an impressive application .
