I just called the store and a rep has a 650! I have his mobile number and he should be calling me later today. I will be stopping in on Thursday before noon to see it. Let me know if anyone has any specific questions....

The person just called me back and was a little nervous about the engadget story, but said he would show it to me on Thursday. He said the web browsing is terrific. I am so tickled.

Ask him if it eats children to recharge it's battery.

What bewilders me is if a rep already has one, why is it not being released until December?

...and for heaven's sake, remember to set the camera to MACRO mode

I live about 10 mins away from that store, I'll try to check it out today or tomorrow. It's a very busy Sprint store, always a long line, and the chances of catching the one rep that has it will be the real task. Also we may scare them off with too many inquires.

Try and take a picture with the Treo 650's camera and post it here so we can see if the photo taking ability has improved.

Please! check to see if it has voice activated dialing (especially through a bluetooth headset). Also, is it version 1.1 or 1.2 of bluetooth? Will it work with a wifi card? Thanks in advance.

I live in San Jose and I'm tempted to go to Palm in Milpitas (about 20 minutes away) and just blatantly demand anwers!, but I'd probably be escorted off site at gunpoint or something. Any ideas?

"IF" I'm able to see it, I may be able to check the version of BT, but not sure what to look for to see if wifi card will work. I'll assure you the Sprint reps will not know.

Could someone take a SD card into the store with them and have them take a few pictures (saving them to the SD card)???

Then, post them - of course. Hehe.

Here's a thread with a pile of questions all concentrated to the first post.

    http://discussion.treocentral.com/sh...+650+questions

Some of these may have been answered in recent days, but I don't think they have. I have to be a little more on top of things.

I have mentioned this in many other bluetooth related threads but it probably got buried quickly — Palm has the approval and has licensed the Bluetooth 1.2 Stack for Palm OS 6.x from the Bluetooth Qualification Program. BUT, I'm afraid the T5 and the Treo 650, which will be using Palm OS 5, can only use Bluetooth 1.1. See below:

    Bluetooth Qualification Program website

This is one reason why the T5 doesn't have Wi-Fi. I like PalmOne but this is not good at all. I am very disappointed in this use of 4 year old, limited Bluetooth technology.

You got it. I probably won't be able to determine anything about the wi-fi. I'll try to pop on my sd card and snap some pics with the camera and take some screen shots with snap if I can. Hopefully he won't get bombarded in the next two days and get nervous.
