I've used SoundRec for great audio recording when sitting at a desk or walking in a park. However, recording while driving down the road in a car is unintelligible for some reason.

Does anyone know which recording aps work best in a moving vehicle?

It's called wind and vibration. The same occurs with ToySoft's PAR Pro. Ben

what we need is a recording app with AGC (automatic gain control)

Must be vibration. Not much wind with the windows up and air off.

You can get intellligible speech recording (not great, but you can understand the words) with SoundRec if you turn the sensitivity & volume down and hold the microphone near your face.

I have done some testing of this with Audacity. You do get background hum as one would expect, but it is perfectly intelligible.
