I love the PocketDVD product and use it to encode DVDs and put them on expansion cards fpr viewing on my Treo 600.

    i recently downloaded a .wmv file from MLB.com ( a full game).
Is there a way to get this video onto my Treo using Pocket DVD
I burned the file to a DVD but I cannot encode that either.

    Thanks,

    bruce

Stay away from WMV files whenever possible. It is a restricted, proprietary video format by Microsoft with very limited ability to convert to other formats.

Why is Pocket DVD so important to converting DVD's to Palm?

Won't any other DVD ripper work?

    Won't MMPlayer play .wmv files?

Use Pocket DivX or DivX to compress and make them the screen size for your Treo.

PocketDVD uses the opensource xVid Codec. WMV is M$ proprietary codec and BG charges lots of $$ for anyone who want to use it...

And, no you don't have to use PocketDVD if you don't want to. If you want to convert vids yourself and are handy with VirtualDub, you can just follow the guide below:
