    Standard card should work fine.

I've been working on the DVD conversion this weekend and had a few questions for those of you who have done this before----

I have the XVid MPEG 4 and DIVX codecs installed-- which is better in terms of A) clarity and B) file output size? I seem to recall that DIVX was better on both counts but wanted to see what you all use... Also, are there any better codecs that I am missing? Did you guys pay for the DIVX Pro codec and if so, what benefits does that provide?

Is there a better MMPlayer Skin that makes the UI any nicer?

Seems like there are varying endorsements of 15FPS vs 20FPS so any advice would be good there too...

I would love to come up with the answers myself, but leaving for a long trip tomorrow and hoping that someone can share...

    Cheers,

    P

Does anyone know how to make the sound louder? I watch the movies on the subway and I can almost not hear anything! However, if I use MMPlayer to listen to music, it is really loud. Any suggestions? I've got a 512MB card so I have some flexibility. Thanks!

You should try PocketDivxEncoder, it's FreeWare

I use a pair of headphones when I am on the subway to filter out the tunnel noise.

Does anyone break up the encoded files to bite size files (ie: several tracks)? I get slowdown and freezing when I scroll into a movie when its one large file.

I am using a 10MB/sec card from Panasonic.

That is a bug in some versions of MMPlayer.
  13. #33
Which version are you using? I am using 0.212.

Same. the problems are discussed on the MMPlayer Forum.

In anticipation of the 650, I "ripped" my first dvd with pocket dvd for palm. It was okay, but the sound when they were talking (explosion and even screams were fine) was low.

I took the LIRR to long island and was able to watch the whole movie on the treo. it was great.

I would love an answer to this too. Maybe pocketDVD can help?

I dont see me doing this a lot, but for long trips it can pass the time.

You can adjust the volume before encoding with the program.
