I am a newbie to the whole GPS thing. I want to find directions to some of the homes I work on in my area and maybe for vacations and I do alot of off roading. but, i don't know where to start.

what kind of prices am I looking at, what does a cheap one do that a expensive one does better, what are some systems to look at?

    All help is wanted
    thanks

There are a lot of threads here, but it seems like the conscious is that http://www.semsons.com/ has a pile of good bundles of GPS receivers and maps. I think almost all of them would give you driving directions and maps. The only thing that I was unaware of when I bought is that the power source has to be a cigarette lighter, which limits a lot of what I wanted to do with the device.

there was a thread a while aga about an I-trek mappopolis bundle (i think it was I-trek) and one of the people talked about using it while on his bicycle so it shouldn't need a cig lighter.

I found the thread hope that it helps. http://discussion.treocentral.com/sh...&highlight=map

Hmmm, I'll have to look into that. I just received mine last night (see my other thread in this forum) and couldn't easily see a way to power it otherwise.

I think he might have meant a motorcycle, but I could be wrong. I've only scanned it quickly as it's a sizable thread.
