I know that when the new TREO 650 comes out with bluetooth, you can use a regular bluetooth headset with it. Are there any bluetooth stereo headsets that can be used to listen to music (ie. Seidio 2 in 1) without the wire?

    Thanks.

That very idea is the bases of my Senior design project for Northeastern Univ. It was originaly going to be used for the T600 with a bluetooth adaptor but I am not going to make it also a stand alone Bluetooth headset.

you'll be able to answer with a button as well as voice dial once the software is released. And my goal is to get 8 hrs of mp3 playback or talk time. enough for one day.

If you google on "bluetooth stereo" you'll see that there are only a few out there but more are coming. There is a company selling a reference design to any interested parties.

Damn it... that was almost the exact form factor i was going to use... I'm still going to go forward with my project though. Maybe i can get this baby under $150... we need the saving seeing how we are all going to have to buy the wifi card.

Hot damn, that's sweet! As much as it pains me to say it, I'd almost be willing to pay that much that set.

    250$ seems very steep.

Well the jabra bluetooth is around 100$, it's mono and can only pair with one device at a time.

the bt420 is 250$, stereo, can pair with multiple devices (can switch from ml3 player to phone on the fly), and comes with a transmitter.

The price, as it stands, is in the right arena. Supposedley, the ipod will be getting bluetooth, if so, the number of headsets like the bt420 will start to increase which will force prices down.

    Check out this one: http://www.aiptek.com/

You make have to click around to the wireless section. It is called Fidelity Bluetooth...
Looks like nice headphones and much less expensive, but seems a risk that they don't
    mate with the 650.

Still with both these and the Bluetake, you are paying for the adapter that you won't need.

That does seem like a nice set of headphones , but how do we know they will work with the treo 650. I don't think the phone is setup to transmit music through Bluetooth. I thought I read that on another post.

will these headsets work if paired to the Jabra A210 adapter?

    It isn't...

The A2DP (Advanced Audio Distribution) profile requires BT 1.2 and the 650 only supports BT 1.1.

That's what I thought, but the Bluetake i-Phone BT 420EX is mentioned above is listed and described with any BT 1.1 device?

    http://www.behandsfree.com/ProductIn...ctid=WHEAD1014

I thought a device had to support A2DP profile to support stereo headphones and that profile was only available on BT ver. 1.2 supported devices? How can this headset support BT Stereo without 1.2? Could it be a typo?

    EDIT!!!!

Okay, I just read the linked Gadgeteer review and realized that it comes with a bundled BT transmitter dongle:

    http://www.the-gadgeteer.com/images2/iphono6.jpg
    http://www.the-gadgeteer.com/images2/iphono5.jpg
    http://www.the-gadgeteer.com/bluetak...no-review.html

Thus it probably only supports stereo BT via the bundled transmitter dongle which you probably would have to attach to the Treo's audio port to work...

Not ot be picky but the A2DP profile exists for the 1.1 BT spec, but 1.1 wasn't fast enough to make it usable. Thats why all the headsets you will find uae 1.2. It is 2 to 4X faster.

We're only two weeks from the CES (my son and I will be there). As a wild guess, there might be 50 new BT gadgets. There may be a binaural unit that's small, 1.1, with mic, that will retail for a reasonable number.

Last January, when Jabra and S/E were among the few visible BT headsets, we saw perhaps 10-15 different new models at CES. The various booths were delighted to pair their products with my S/E T608 (at the time). Hopefully they'll be as happy to cooperate this CES, and I can come back with some good news.

It's also encouraging to note that the Broadcom BT radio in the 650 is definitely 1.2-capable, making that a PalmOne challenge.

Keep us posted on what's up out there with the BT headsets for the T650. I'm looking for a good stereo BT headset compatible with the T650.
