Back when I first was searching around for a good dialing/addressbook app for my newly purchased 7135, I was using TealPhone 3 for a bit until I discovered TakePhone. TakePhone eventually got me to erase TealPhone 3, and eventually it was beamed over to my Treo. But a new beta of TealPhone 4 is available for testing, and it's obvious that the people over at tealpoint.com are tring to compete. I have installed their beta release and would like some feedback.

    TealPhone 4 beta page.

In my opinion, one of TakePhone's best features is it's vast ability to customize searching. Those of us who use TakePhone understand how it works, and TealPhone 4 beta is definatly lacking in this regard, in my opinion. It only searches on the first letter of the one field we have selected. This feature comparision alone will topple the scales in TakePhone's favor in my book.

I'll play around in the preferences a bit to find out how to customize things better before I make any further comments.

I bought TakePhone but recently dumped it in favor of ArrowLauncher - it has a fantastic search capability for contacts and applications.

Take a look at the following attachment... Using TealPhone 4 beta, you can choose what each button does in each window. No wondering why the d-pad doesn't do this or that. All buttons can be customized to do most anything. Highly configurable. VERY COOL!
