    Greetings,

I have a Treo 600 using Verizon. I am a network professional. My co-workers are using Motorola phones in conjunction with future dial (using Sprint Vision).

    www.futuredial.com

This program uses a data cable from phone to USB on the laptop. The laptop now has internet access anywhere there's cell-phone coverage. The only minutes used are the normal minutes.

Is there a similar way of me rigging my Treo to do the same thing? Or is there a type of kit I can use?

    Thanks!

If you need full internet service, PdaNet is *definitely* the way to go. I'm using it daily now since I've been relegated to a portable classroom for the first term of this new school year. It's incredibly stable. Hopefully Verizon won't sock you with extra charges for using it: T-Mo doesn't.

So, when you are connected, you are using your 'anytime' minutes or are you using the internet package deal one may have subscribed to?

I need to do presentations for 2 hours at a time in a location without wifi or internet with my Laptop and was considering getting a PC card with wireless internet before i thought of this scenario.

    Thanks,

    steven

You're using your subscribed data - no voice minutes involved.

Good information. Is this simply available on the PCS vision plan? So I can take my hotsync cable and plug it in to the Laptop and into Treo and use my Treo as a Modem with:

    ????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????
    Has anyone tried this?

Not sure what that link was supposed to be. I use PdaNet on T-Mo and my $19.95/mo unlimited data plan.

If you use the Treo just as a dialup modem, you will be using voice minutes.

TMO Unlimited and PDANet work great! The coolest part is that the Treo does not even lose battery as the cable charges it while you connect!

Just wish there was a real way to get this working on Mac.

I would love to use my treo as a modem but am a bit confused about my data plan. I have the $49 data plan with verizon listed on this page: http://www.verizonwireless.com/b2c/s...-InternetPlans
but there is also a $79.99 data plan. Will my existing plan work for using the internet on my laptop without me getting hit for additional fees? As i understand it my plan is for use of the data connection on the phone, but will verizon know the phone is being used as a modem for a laptop instead? Thanks in advance!

No idea. One thing about T-Mo...their network may be slower, but it's far less confusing too.

Looks like it will. As I am not with Verizon, I can't tell you for sure... but it seems to be an unlimited option. The more expensive plan seems to be with broadband as well.
