I think it's provider related... as I receive calls when I am using Verichat.
Ever wonder if those FreeIPOD / FreeMiniMac scam sites work? Well, I found out Have a look at the results:

That's a limitation of the Network that you subscribe to and I'm not sure how CDMA handles it but with GSM you cannot receive a call while actively sending/receiving data.

hey guys, i had verichat, but let my membership lapse... did you know you can just turn on im forwarding with aol and get the im functionality without verichat? why pay when you can get it for free?!! when friends send me im, i get it as a text message, then i can reply and they get the reply so... the only advantage of verichat and others is that you can initiate a chat i guess.... but that's a poor reason to pay recurring fees... cuz you can always send a text message/email/call...

Maybe, provided you have only aol buddies, and you do not want open a chat window, and thus keep a track of your conversation. With VeriChat you can have many chat sessions simultaneously with buddies on MSN, AIM, ICQ, Yahoo!
And what about buddy list? What if I want to send a message to another buddy?

And with Verichat you can log off. Nice when you want some peace and quiet. :-)

veryichat is awesome, and their tech support is amazing too

verichat may be nice. I'm just saying its not required. the IM forwarding works with AOL AND YAHOO. I haven't tested the others because I don't use them. as for buddy lists... who needs them when u can send a sms to their phone? they don't even need to be online and they get your message immediately... provided their phone is on...the same goes for initiating chats... just send them an sms! we've all replied to sms because it seems more urgent than IM. how many times have u received an IM and just let it sit there... and u can have multiple simultaneous chats with multiple platforms with multiple users all from your treo native sms app... as for privacy with logging off... u can always turn off your treo radio for the ultimate privacy... and u won't miss msgs because they get delivered to u when u turn your phone back on...

I love Verichat and don't pay yearly fees. I paid one time fee for life long ago. Do they not offer that anymore?
The yahoo and AIM thing don't offer you most of the services that Verichat does. Like knowing if someone is on or not, knowing if they are typing and being able log off so that you aren't hit with IM's when you don't want to be. You can see properties of buddies and I have MSN log in name for VIP's who I want to have access to 24/7 and AIM name for those who I don't mind chatting with when I am not busy. I can be selective.

Also I wanted to make clear cuz I was confused by the post. I can get calls while I am chatting, it does log me off data but I am still logged into AIM.

    I really like Verichat.

One more thing. If you use SMS version, which I do have, you must keep a chat open for each buddy. Means you have to dig through SMS messages to IM people? I have 40+ people on my buddy list, how do yo do that?

Isn't it taking a step backwards? Further developments or why more developments? Why smartphone? Why...?

Has anyone gotten the file transfer to work with the new version of VeriChat, using AIM? I tried it today, but I didn't get any dialog on my Treo when trying to send myself a file from my desktop....
  15. #55
I have gotten it to work. It doesn't work like you think. You basically upload a file to their servers and the recipient gets a link to download it. I have yet to try from a desktop to my phone.

Just sent some Halloween pics from Verichat to an AIM user, no problems.
  17. #57
hmmm....well I still haven't gotten desktop to Treo to work yet.....

I also just tried sending FROM my phone to someone (myself on another name) on IM, and it seemed to upload on the phone's end, but I received no notification of a file transfer on the other end :/

You'd have to download it from the VeriChat app.

In the VeriChat app (main Buddy List screen), go to MENU > HELP > CHECK FOR NEW VERSION.

Of course, if you don't have a version new enough to do an OTA update, you can get the latest from http://www.pdaapps.com.
