    I have a few ms word docs on docs to go that I think would be better as ebooks. Anyone know of an easy and cheap (read free) way to convert them?
    visor deluxe->clie n760->treo 300->treo 600->treo 650 -> treo 700p -> treo 755p

    QEX will take a txt file to a palm pdb file. You will have to save the Word file as a txt file on your desktop.

    You should find QEX with google and I think it is free.

    pDocs is a plug-in for Word so you don't have to convert to TXT. Converts to standard Palm doc.

    Umm... you do realize that DTG can covert them right on the Treo right!! Just open the file and save as a "palm doc" and DTG will convert it right there for you!!!

    Anyway, If you want something FREE and really cool for your desktop, checkout Abiword!!

    http://www.abisource.com/

    It's a full fledged Freeware word processor (vs MS Office) for your desktop that supports MS Word etc file types. When you can download the plugins, there is one that lets you save MS word files as PalmDocs!! This a really easy way of converting MS Word Docs on your desktop as palm docs....

    Now, is there anyway to get DTG to read a text file so it can save as a palm doc?

    Unfortunately I don't think so...at least with DTG6. However, I know you can open txt file with a nice freeware called VFSi:

    It might be easier to just convert txt files on your desktop via the DTG conduit or something like Abiword as I mentioned above...

    FYI, just to add to this thread, if you want a full featured app that can easily create Palm doc ebooks, then the PalmdigitalMedia Ebook Studio is the obvious choice:

    Thanks,

    I use QEX on my desktop to go from txt to palm docs. But to tell you the truth, the treo is so good I don't use the desktop a lot for personnal work.
