    Price comparison

OK the Ritek brand (Ridata) one is the cheapest $175, but I can't find the data rates listed anywhere (not even on ritek's website). I would love the 1GB capacity, but the slow speed of my old 512MB card ended up being a HUGE pain. For instance, I couldn't save voice recordings or movie recordings directly to the SD card because the card couldn;t keep up and it would just be all blipy and choppy, and then when I saved voice notes to RAm and had to transfer them to the SD card it would take several minutes, even for relatively short (10sec) recordings.

The biggest pain was transferring MP3s to it. I am used to USB 2.0 speeds, but even connected to my computer through my USB 2.0 adapter, it would be slower than USB 1.1. Tansferring 500MB of MP3s could take up to 10 minutes. That's unacceptible to me.

I am looking at the Transcend 45X 1GB SD cards. They are a little more expensive on the price comparison chart ($222) but the faster data rate (6.8MB/sec) should be worth the price in the time I save waitng for files to transfer.

    Any comments or thoughts?

Yeah, I noticed the same thing. Go to their eBay store:

    http://stores.ebay.com/MyDigitalDisc...enameZl2QQtZkm

This seems to be there base of operations. It goes Buy It Now for $150 with a $9.50 shipping charge. There is an international shipping option too, so you should be OK down under.

I don't think I can resist this price... pulling ... out .... credit... card....... resistance.... futile....

    Looks interesting.

Funny about the pictures though. In the main menu it's a 1Gig card.
In the details of the sale the picture changes to a 512Mb picture.

Not worried just pointing out the mistakes. Not forgetting they can't spell either. SPPEED unless this is a brand name.?

Ancient One - I'm in Aust also.

    Follow thins link: http://www.exeltek.com.au/catalog/default.php

They sell TekQ 45 x 1 GB cards for A$280 - which is a record low price.

I bought a 256 MB Lexar high speed card off ebay. It ended up shipping from US (I didn't think much about it at the time). Problem is that it has never worked, and it's now a big pain in the a... to claim under warranty re international postage etc.

I'm going to stick with local.

BTW, if you're with Telstra, what are your phone settings for GPRS?

Thanks mate for the heads up. Was going to buy off EBAY from a HONG KONG or MELBOURNE seller. EBAY is being flouded with SD CARDS at present from both these sellers.

Will check out http://www.exeltek.com.au/catalog/default.php instead and see what I can arrange. Let me know how you got on with the warrantee issue.

I have sent you a PM with GPRS details but you might already have this.

Exeltek has a good listing and good pricing for cards. What peaked my interest is the Tekq 60X 256MB SD (Secure Digital) Card http://www.exeltek.com.au/catalog/pr...roducts_id/332 with minimum sustained write speed of 9MB per second 60X and a read speed of 10MB per second 66X. This card would appear to be the fastest one I have seen on the market.

Does anyone know much about the company and whether it is a good buy.

I just (yesterday) got the 1 GB Tekq card. It's awesome having that much capacity! I write to it using a card reader, and the speed, compared to the Sandisk (basic one) is fantastic. I wouldn't get too hung up on speed for Treo purposes though, because there are a number of posts here that conclude that the Treo is always the slowest link, and even slow cards work fine for watching movies etc.

Unfortunately, Exeltek just put their prices up with the new shipment. Still a good buy though!

BTW, thanks for the Telstra settings.

Bought mine on www.ebay.com for $150 (delivered)...The anticipation of receiving it made the delivery seem longer than It was!

Kingmax 60x 1GB for $141.99 shipped in US!
I am not familiar with Kingmax but their website looks like they know what they are doing. Anyone had experience with Kingmax? My credit card is out of my pocket...

anyone heard of these kingmax cards getting stuck in the treo600 sd slot (like this review says on the newegg site for the 512mb kingmax), or any other cards, for that matter? please post if you are using a kingmax card with no problems as well, thanks.
